| First fight advice I've got my first fight coming up. Wanted some advice for that kind of situation. Let me explain me and my opponent.
This guy's 6'4 21 years old. The fight was at 185 but he couldn't make weight so it's catch weight 195. He trains at west coast jujitsu so he's probably got a decent ground game and good reach standing up and weighs more than me. It's his first fight too. That's all I know about him.
I'm 6'1 about 191 20 years old. I'm good with my hands and have natural wrestling. If there was a fighter that I mimic it's sort of like Vitor standing up. I'm explosive and hit very hard but I dont use kicks. I can pick up and throw people from just about any situation. I have really fast foot work but my cardio isn't where it should be due to a fractured rib. Gameplan: (If anyone can give me advice I'd really appreciate it and rep you)
- To use that first fight fear factor against him. Knock the wind out of him, get off FIRST and hit him let him know he's in a fight, bloody him up.
- If I lose the stand up Im gonna clasp his waste and throw him. Going to setup that position to throw by wading in on him and making him cover up.
- The fights get stopped super early when someone is mounted and getting punched out so that's where I'm taking it if I don't clip him early.
- Avoid ALL bottom ground positions
- Fight on the inside and avoid his range.
- I'm going to play is safe and conservative at the very start but I plan on exploding sometime during the first round into a head hunting mode with 1000 haymakers at his face.

Listen to your trainers and coaches before, during, and after the fight they will be your best source of instruction hands down. Don't Andy Wang it. I have worked out at Jeff currans gym in crystal lake il and got to talk with Jeff once. I told him I will never be in a professional fight but if I did what type of advice would you have for me and that's what he said minus the Andy Wang part.
War whatever your real name is

I have a few tidbits:
Listen to your coach not a bunch of keyboard warriors.
Be careful of the adrenaline dump. Keep a level head.
It's easy to get tunnel vision, keep your eyes and ears open.
Do what you do. In any sport, do what you do best and don't try to beat someone at their game. If you wrestle, wrestle.

Thanks guys good advice so far. What things do people fear in their first fight? (Getting, hit, wind knocked out of em, bleeding, etc) That's what I want to focus on and use it against him.
I'm training to get out of bad positions and basically just defending punches all day, getting used to not flinching and covering up right. I can't grapple at all due to my rib so I need to avoid the ground pretty much.

Best advice I could give you is keep your head and don't panic. Once you get hit the jitters will go away quickly. If your rib is in that bad of shape then be sure to protect it, watch the bodyshots. The real best advice is to listen to your coaches though.

don't forget to have fun
If you take him down try and pass immediately to side control, or just whenever you can, as it obviously may be harder for him to get out of, being 6'4.
obviously you know what your doing more than me, but I thought I'd just throw that out there.

Good luck. Own it!
