Lol what? I remember him goin 2-2 and Getting Cut. He had wins over GG and Vera, sure. But I dont remember him "getting robbed of a title fight"

Anyways back to the thread. I think that the longer the sport goes, the less the chance of becoming of long running champ. The sport is only getting bigger, and its becoming blatantly obvious that great fighters can easily fall off, or at least lose that 'ora' about them.

Liddell/Nog/Fedor/Randy/Wandy/Ortiz/CC/Hughes and tons more are all examples of former great fighters and champions that have lost fights with the newer generation of fighters. Like these fighters Fedor will always go down as one of the greats.

I think as the sport goes on we're gonna see less an less "Fedors" myself.

Fedor's only ranked opponents from January 2006- December 2009 (4 whole years) were Mark Hunt (who was coming off a loss and subsequently lost his next 4 MMA bouts to Overeem, Melvin Manhoef, & Sean McCorkle), Tim Sylvia (1-2 in his 3 previous fights, and subsequently never beat another ranked opponent while getting KO'd by Ray Mercer & Abe Wagner), Andrei Arlovski (subsequently lost his next 3 fights and hasn't won since before he fought Fedor), & Bret Rogers (who subsequently got destroyed by Overeem & went to a decision against Warpath).

All those wins have great historical relevance in terms of beating the best competition of his generation, but that has little or nothing to do with who is the best today. By today's standards Fedor hasn't beaten anyone in over 4 years because none of those guys are currently top 10 heavyweights.

It's hard to argue against Fedor being the greatest heavyweight of all-time. He definitely has a case for being the greatest fighter (in any weight class) of all-time, but the quality of his recent competition is questionable in hindsight.

You remember wrong. He walked because he wasn't taking a pay cut. And yes, Brock was given to Randy as opposed to him.

Fedor is definitely Top 5 All-Time, probably top 1 or 2 more realistically for his career. One of the greatest ever, no argument could be made there, but as for right now, he isn't that guy anymore. I don't think he's a top 5 HW right now.
