| Fedor, Aoki likely for DREAM NYE Fedor Emelianenko, Shinya Aoki likely for 'DREAM: New Year! 2011' | MMAjunkie.com Quote:
New Year's Eve will apparently have a very familiar feel for mixed martial arts fans.
Longtime PRIDE veteran Fedor Emelianenko (32-4), who fought five times for the promotion on year-end shows, and Japanese superstar Shinya Aoki (29-5), a four-time year-end fighter, each appear likely to fight at this year's "DREAM: Fight for Japan. How are you! New Year! 2011." fight card.
The tentative additions were announced on Monday's new edition of "Inside MMA," HDNet's MMA news series.
The event takes place Dec. 31 at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. HDNet Fights CEO Andrew Simon told MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) the event will air on HDNet. However, it hasn't been decided if it'll air live or via delay.
In addition to MMA fights, the event is expected to feature K-1, kickboxing, pro-wrestling and other competitions as part of a stacked lineup.
Emelianenko's booking comes on the heels of a weekend win over Jeff Monson at an M-1 Global card. "The Last Emperor" battled through consecutive losses to Dan Henderson, Antonio Silva and Fabricio Werdum, leaving some to wonder if he had any fight left in the tank, but it appears the 35-year-old Russian will carry on.
Japanese judoka Satoshi Ishii (4-1-1) appears to be the leading candidate for Emelianenko's opponent.
Meanwhile, Aoki brings a six-fight win streak to the cage. While a 2010 loss to Gilbert Melendez under the Strikeforce banner is still fresh in many MMA fans' minds, Aoki is 9-1 in his past 10 fights. The submission ace fought most recently in September, when he submitted former WEC champ "Razor" Rob McCullough in the first round of a DREAM.17 contest.
| Hopefully the Emperor can notch another W for the year. Should be a sweet ass card.

Seems that they are not mentioning Aoki's fiasco at the last NYE when he gave a pathetic performance against a K-1 guy in a special rules match, and was KOd cold in the second round lol

When I am feeling down sometimes I will rewatch that match. Aoki definitely deserves the knock out he got.
That said Aoki is an exciting, really good fighter. It will be great to see him fight. Oh yeah, and I will also love watching Fedor fight!

Fedor back to fighting cans. I don't like that.
Seriously I'm a huge Fedor fan(look at my sig), but this man(or his management) certainly know how to ruin his legacy.

He defeated Monson, that was one of the best HWs outside Zuffa, now he will face and should easily beat Ishii.
I am pretty sure, he will be facing again Top competition very soon.
What the UFC guys do after they lose 3 fights in a row and get released? They go to a smaller org, they fight some cans and if they win they are back in UFC.
For Fedor is the same thing, he lost 3, now he defeated Monson, in december he should defeat Ishii, and after that he will be back in America fighting Top competition again.

I agree with Pashak. For god's sake he lost three fights in a row. He is not going to fight JDS for his fourth fight.
Monson is not a can. Ishii is not a can. Ishii may not be the best, but he has a decent MMA record (limited experience) and he won gold fucking medal in Judo. That is a dangerous man that Fedor will absolutely crush, but he is not a can.
