| Rumor: UFC 145 postponed? Quote:
(MMA) - Citing "scheduling complications" and a desire to have a "championship card", the UFC indefinitely postponed their return to Montreal, Canada, Tuesday.
March 24th's UFC 145 was to be the promotion's fifth event in Montreal and their first there in over a year, but as The Canadian Press' Neil Davidson broke the news, it will be some time before the Octagon graces the Bell Centre. Davidson spoke with UFC Director of Canadian Operations Tom Wright who suggested the UFC will try again sometime in 2012.
MMA Junkie spoke with UFC President Dana White on the matter, confirming that White tried to get an April date but availability was scarce. No additional reasons were given for the move, but the spring schedule of fights may undergo some additional changes.
Fights will likely not be moved up to the March 3rd FX show in Australia as that card already has 10 fights. The April 14th FX event in Sweden is a slight possibility for one or two, but most likely the majority of bouts will move to the April 21st UFC 146 event in Atlanta, GA, assumed to be the new UFC 145.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship's spring schedule is undergoing a massive makeover, and a planned March 24 trip to Montreal has been wiped from the calendar.
MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) today confirmed the change of plans with UFC president Dana White.
"We're still doing Montreal," White said. "We're just not going to do it when we were originally planning to."
The Canadian Press' Neil Davidson first reported the move via Twitter.
The proposed March 24 event, which was expected to be dubbed UFC 145 and take place at city's Bell Centre, was first announced by the promotion in December, when White announced on UFC.com that Canadian Rory MacDonald would meet Che Mills on the card. Seven more bouts were added to the card in subsequent weeks, but a main event had not yet been determined.
White said the promotion is still committed to visiting Montreal, but he wasn't certain when that could take place.
"We tried to get an April date in Montreal, and we can't get it," White said. "We're working on it."
White said the company is currently shuffling its entire spring lineup, though he declined to give a specific reason for the March 24 delay. Davidson's initial report cited "scheduling complications and desire to deliver 'championship card.'"
As for the matchups already announced for the event, including Mills vs. MacDonald, Ben Rothwell vs. Brendan Schaub, Mark Bocek vs. Matt Wiman, Mark Hominick vs. Eddie Yagin, Travis Browne vs. Chad Griggs, Mac Danzig vs. Efrain Escudero and Chris Clements vs. Keith Wisniewski, White said further details will emerge in the very near future.
"We're still working on it," White said. "We're still trying to bounce around and figure out what fights are going where and what we want to do. It's still a work in progress."

I posted this in another thread that was somewhat topical. More relevant here: Quote: |
Sorry, slightly off topic but I still have a few questions about the now-cancelled 'UFC145' in Montreal. Heard the reason Zuffa cancelled was because they didn't have a headlining fight. How much of this has to do with the prolonged recovery of Dominick Cruz? When were he and Faber supposed to fight originally and has that been pushed back?

3 cards in Feb and 1 in March, kind of sucks. UFC already has two planned for April though. UFC and MMA Event Rumors and Fight Cards | MMAWeekly.com
Whats everyones take on the cancelation? I almost feel glad that they canceled it instead of trying to hype us up on some BS card...but in the end lots of people are effected by this from fighters to trainers to cornermen to fans and more.
Im not too picky and I dont have to have a superstar title fight for me to watch. BUT it would be pretty f'n sweet if they got a slot on TV and give us fans a free surprise night of fights.
hopefully Schaub/Rothwell and Danzig/Escudero gets bumped up to another card instead of all together canceled.
