Dana Whites FrankenFighter

Quote:

If you could create a Frankenfighter — from selected parts of top UFC fighters — what would he be like?

DFW:
• The Jiu-jitsu of Frank Mir.
• The wrestling of Randy Couture.
• The chin of Chuck ‘The Iceman’ Liddell — when Chuck had a chin. That was the thing that made him such an exciting fighter. Great takedown defence, knockout power in both hands and a chin from hell.
• The kicks of Georges St-Pierre.
• The punches of Thiago Alves. He has the knockouts and most knockdowns in UFC history.
• The heart of Frankie Edgar.
• The mental fortitude of Anderson Silva.
• The strategy ability of Randy Couture.
• The old school knees would go to Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua.
• The elbows of Jon ‘Bones’ Jones.

Yeah at first, I'm like what? really? Saying Thiago Alves for punches was worse. There are guys with much better technique and KO power. However, I think saying "the kicks of Georges St-Pierre" is the worst one out of all. One could probably name 20-30 better kickers out there.

Yup. Dana used the amount of knockdowns Thiago has had to support that claim, but some of those have came from knees. Thiago's kicks are definitely better than his hands, and are definitely better than GSP's kicks.

I can get the frank mir jitz comment a bit. The guy doesnt often lose a limb he's gotten ahold of.

my own personal frankenfighter though..

-maia for his jitz. its like watching a guy struggle in quicksand when he gets moving.
-chin or roy nelson. duh. no brainer here.
-anderson's punching. a backstepping jab to end a guy like forrest speaks for itself.
-leg kicks of thiago alves. no comment necessary
-knees of aldo. that turn around knee on mendes was awe inspiring.
-chael's wrestling. yes there are better wrestlers, but I think chael has the best double leg right now
- wandy's attitude. just seems to me that wandy loves everything about the fight game.

i would have to go with-

• The Jiu-jitsu of Demian Mia.
• The wrestling of Josh Barnett- i know its not an obvious choice but he uses it well to get to his submissions/gnp
• The chin of Big Nog (back in the day)
• The kicks of Jose Aldo.
• The punches of Fedor
• The heart of Frankie Edgar.
• The mental fortitude of Fedor.
• The strategy ability of Randy Couture.
• The knees of Overeem.
• The elbows of Jon Jones.

Racist! You want the body of Jon Jones but you don't want to be black!
