Default if frankie edgar wins the featherweight title...

Okay, i can not explain how stoked i am for this fight as it is truely a superfight in every since. Sure the challenger is officially coming off two losses (not unlike the challengers for the light heavyweight & welterweight titles), but both losses can easily be argued. Personally i scored the first bout for benson, but as much as i like him, i couldnt give him the rematch (although im glad the judges did lol). In fact, its conceivable to give both fights to frankie (making him the uncrowned lightweight champ).

With that said, if edgar captures the featherweight title, would that just set up another consecutive 'frankie-rematch' with aldo? Or would the ufc allow frankie to jump right back to lightweight for a third fight with the champ, bendo?

More than likely, if frankie wins, aldo would be granted an immediate rematch considering how dominant of a champion he has been. However i would prefer a third meeting with bendo as it too would be a superfight (champion vs. champion) with the lightweight title on the line, giving frankie the chance to become the first dual ufc champion.

Then again, i could be getting way ahead of myself.

Win or loss for Edgar, I wouldn't mind if he stuck around the FW division for a while. Aldo has been talking about going up to LW. I wonder how the outcome of this fight with Edgar will affect his decision to move in that direction.

I love Edgar. There is no fighter in any promotion worldwide with a bigger heart than Frankie. I hope he beats Aldo - I believe he is capable of it. In fact, I think he has a better chance at beating Aldo than he has at beating Bendo. Bendo is just too big and strong.

I am super stoked for this fight!

Tbh i dont think the weight will be a factor as jose is around the same size as many of the top lighttweights. I agree tho, it will b interesting to see where both guys choose to stay after this fight.
