Best exercise machine for weight loss........ Since I have had 2 surgeries on my knee, running or jogging is out of the question. I'd like to do something 3-5 times per week, and for 30 minutes each time. What do you think is the best machine out of the following to achieve this? |
I don't know how bad your knee is, but I also have some knee issues (1 surgery on each), and I get my cardio in on an elliptical. It's a lot easier on my knees than a treadmill or running outdoors. I still get sore if I go more than 40 minutes on it, but 20-30 don't bother me at all. Hope this helps. |
My knee problems are not serious just an uncommon knee disease but a recumbent bike I picked up at Walmart of all places does the trick. Ran me only $107 and I can ride it for 30-40 while watching tv. Being able to multitask makes exercising so much easier. |
Run baby, run... |

I'm never do cardio though. I don't enjoy it and it's not neccesary for weight loss. An hour of weights is good for me, and it burns more fat than cardio. |
Weight loss, in the context of medicine, health or physical fitness, is a reduction of the total body mass, due to a mean loss of fluid, body fat or adipose tissue and/or lean mass, namely bone mineral deposits, muscle, tendon and other connective tissue. It can occur unintentionally due to an underlying disease or can arise from a conscious effort to improve an overweight or obese state. |
I used to weigh 220 about a year ago. My only cardio involved a heavy bag and a stationary bike. I used to somewhat have knee pain but I think that was due to stress on my knee from being overweight. I currently weigh 160-165. The lowest I've been was 142 in January. I lifted weights but I'm not so sure if it'll help with your weight loss. I'm not sure if you want to lose weight, or just fat. There's a big misconception when people say that want to lose weight. But lifting weight can help you lose fat. |
Doing a whole body work out lifting weights should do the trick, but with your knee, avoid the leg lifts that bend the knee like leg press and squats....... |
