The other defendents got about a year - And considering Vick was the financeur, he'll get upwards of that. 12-18 months sounds about right, but the fact is the judge presiding and doing the sentiencing doesn't HAVE to adhere to what was recommended by the prosecutors. The judge COULD add whatever he feels like, even the maximum: 5 years.

Doubt that'll happen, though. At most, the judge would probably add six months. And that's AT MOST, mind you. He might just give Vick what's recommended by the prosecution.

I sincerely doubt we'll see Vick until 2010, at the EARLIEST. He'll be 31 by then, and by the way O.D.B. came outta' prison, Vick isn't exactly going to be on par to play football. He's not going to have the same facilities and people around him to keep him in competetive shape and shit, so I imagine...After a year, he'll be one physically lame duck.

After that would come convincing a team to take him on (which, at 31, he may very well be able to). But...I doubt it. Reason one I already mentioned - His shape. Reason two, the fact that he wasn't ALL THAT GREAT as a player to begin with. Yes, great physical speciment, great potential, but as far as a passer goes, he'd have two or three games where he'd be great, and then completely fall off the wagon. The guy was sporatic, at best. Granted, you couldn't judge the guy the same way you could other quarterbacks because what he was doing was "revolutionizing" the position - Which is a fair point, but it never, ever panned out. The guy just never proved himself to be all that great BEFORE he went to prison, what in the world would make a GM think he'd be great AFTER prison? His age and what he'll have gone through would spell nothing but down side, or a third stringer.

Can anyone say AFL? CFL? Europe got canned, and now so has Micheal Vick. I liked the guy, to tell you the truth. Even after all that water bottle crap - I liked him. When I saw him at the NFL draft (I think? It was SOME kind of convention) saying how he was going to make a sincere effort to change his ways, and that it wasn't all talk - Man-o-man, I fell for it hookline and sinker.

BUT FUCK VICK. That piece of shit completely lost me as a supporter, and whatever future football career he would have had should serve as a serious fucking lesson to every kid coming up from a hard neighborhood: WISE THE FUCK UP.

...God damn, I wrote a lot. Haha, anyway - Yea. Sayonara, Vick.

Yes you did write a lot -- indeed. LOL. But it's ok because it was intelligent analysis.

On the bright side he'll be able to relive "The Longest Yard" in person.

Or if those dogs are unavailable (they might be on a casting call afterall) we could feed him to those badass dogs that Sundance posted about in offtopic.

Default Update on Plea Deal

source:http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2989037

Quote:
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick will not admit to killing dogs or gambling on dog fights, as detailed in his indictment, when he enters a guilty plea in a Richmond, Va., federal court Monday, a source close to the case has told ESPN. Instead, the one count of conspiracy that Vick will plead to will admit guilt to the charge of interstate commerce for the purpose of dogfighting.

Vick will admit that he was present when dogs were killed, but will maintain that he did not personally kill any of the dogs.

The allegations of killing dogs and gambling were part of the picture painted by Vick's three co-defendants, all of whom have pleaded guilty.

The source told ESPN that Vick's defense team met with federal attorneys Thursday afternoon to determine the "summary of facts" to which Vick will plead. But the source says Vick maintains that he never killed dogs and never gambled on a dog fight.

Vick, 27, is scheduled to enter his plea agreement Monday and could face up to five years in prison.

Vick's co-defendants said Vick provided virtually all the gambling and operating funds for the Bad Newz Kennels enterprise. Two of them also said Vick participated in executing at least eight underperforming dogs by various means, including drowning and hanging.

Default Vick agrees to plea deal

Vick does admit to killing dogs.
Quote:
RICHMOND, Va. -- Michael Vick filed his plea agreement in federal court Friday admitting to conspiracy in a dogfighting ring and helping kill pit bulls. He denied ever betting on the fights, only bankrolling them.
The Atlanta Falcons quarterback is scheduled to formally enter his plea Monday in U.S. District Court.
"Most of the Bad Newz Kennels operation and gambling monies were provided by Vick," a summary of facts in the case said.
The statement said that when the kennel's dogs won, the gambling proceeds were generally shared by Vick's three co-defendants - Tony Taylor, Purnell Peace and Quanis Phillips.
"Vick did not gamble by placing side bets on any of the fights. Vick did not receive any of the proceeds of the purses that were won by Bad Newz Kennels," the summary said.
"Vick agrees and stipulates that these dogs all died as a result of the collective efforts of Peace, Phillips and Vick."
According to court documents, Vick was aware that his co-defendants killed a number of dogs that did not perform well in testing sessions.
Last April, Vick and two co-defendants tested the fighting skills of dogs and the three agreed to kill six to eight dogs that didn't measure up. All were killed by methods including hanging and drowning.
