Default Mac's NFL mock draft 09

So the combine's over so I thought I'd put mine out there. Now keep in mind, this isn't what I think will happen but what would happen if I was picking. Here goes.

1. Lions-Matt Stafford QB-Lots of needs but this is where I would go. Other options: Jason Smith OT, I would love for them to take this guy because it would make what I pick next a bigger possibility.

2. Rams-Aaron Curry LB-fills need, safe pick. Other options: Jason Smith OT, this is what I believe will happen.

3. Chiefs-Jason Smith OT. Other options: If Stafford or Curry is available that's likely where they would go. Outside chance of Sanchez

4. Seahawks-Eugene Monroe OT-fills need probably a reach here. Other options: Michael Crabtree would have been a lock until measuring just over 6'1" and not being able to run. Still a possibility

5. Browns-Brian Orakpo DE- Ohter options: if Curry is still there, he would be the pick

6. Bengals-Michael Crabtree WR-he shouldn't fall past here unless things go south. Other options: Orakpo or should Monroe or Smith fall here.

7. Raiders-B.J. Raji DT-perfect fit to help stop the run. Other options: every body, who knows with Al, probably anybody but a DB.

8. Jags-Vontae Davis CB- Would have been Jenkins but he is falling fast.

9. Packers-Everettw Brown DE/LB-fits perfectly into the 3-4. Other options, B.J. Raji.

10. 49ers-Aaron Maybin DE-a reach, maybe but they need a pass rush badly. Other options: Anything from Maclin at WR to Sanchez at QB.

11. Bills-Brian Cushing LB-Safest pick left for need. Other options: If Maybin or Everette Brown is still there.

12. Broncos-Tyson Jackson DE-Another reach but perfect 3-4 end. Other options: Rey Maualuga.

13. Redskins-Andre Smith OT-someone will take the chance, why not Washington? Other options: Peria Jerry DT or Maclin

14. Saints-Rey Maualuga LB-playmaker at aneed spot. Other options: Malcolm Jenkins, very doubtfull though.

15. Texans-Malcolm Jenkins S/CB-like Andre Smith, someone will chance it. Other options: another very talented but lacks heart, Michael Johnson DE

16. Chargers-Michael Oher OT-depends on what goes down with LT. Other options: ANdre Smith if he keeps dropping or Knowshown Moreno RB.

17. Jets-Mark Sanchez QB-if he drops this far, I would think this is a no brainer. Other options: Jeremy Maclin

18. Bears-Jeremy Maclin WR-Very dangerous with the ball. Other options: Sanchez

19. Bucs-Beanie Wells RB-Dunn is out, Cadilac is a ? Other options: Maclin or Harvin at WR or Jerry at DT or Moreno.

20. Lions-Peria Jerry DT-Best need left. Other options: if one of the tackles falls here or they could reach for one or D.J. Moore CB.

21. Eagles-Brandon Pettigrew TE-Donavan's staying, get him a weapon. Other options: Eben Britton OT, or one of the WRs.

22. Vikings-D.J. Moore CB-need pass defense, fills need. Other options: Vontae if he slips, Harvin or another WR.

23. Pats-Clay Mathews LB-Aging LBs, safe pick. Other options: best player available.

24. Flacons-Larry English LB-need a LB bad, kind of a reach but we know Falcons will take chances based on thier needs. Other options: Pettigrew if he is still there.

25. Dolphins-Percy Harvin WR-yeah I know, Ginn v 2.0. with all the good LBs gone though best player left for need. Other options: Maybin if he's there.

26. Ravens-Darius Heywood-Bey WR-if it's not him it would have to be another WR or DB.

27. Colts-Sean Smith S- with Perry gone my choice. Other options: WR, Nicks?

28. Eagles-Eben Britton OT- if they don't take him earlier. Other options: Duke Robinson G or S Sean Smith if he's still there. William Moore's stock is dropping or I'd pick him here.

29. Giants-James Lauranitis-from top 10 to late first, if he falls here Giants would be stupid to let him go further. Other options: WR or safety.

30. Titans-Hakeem Nicks WR- NEED!

31. Cards-LeSean McCoy RB- big need. Ohter options: Moreno or Wells should they fall or OL.

32. Steelers-Alex Mack C-could go with Duke Robinson at G also.

I have Smith as a possibility, but I went to The Detroit News' website and the only thing I found backing up your statement is a mock draft. Do you have a link?

I wouldn't mind if the Titans took Hakeem Nicks, we need WR help. but the organization never seems to draft for need in the first round. We take the best athleteavailable. We have needed WR's and DE's for years and the front office doesn't seem to notice until the third round.

I would personally take a defensive lineman in the first round and go for one of the free agent wide outs, that has proved he can play.

There is no way to know who will go first right now, the draft is a long way off, plus nobody is going to tell the truth about who they are going to pick. These two guys are smart bets but it's a question mark until the lions sign somebody or announce their choice on draft day.

No way the bills take that piece of shit cushing, while they do need a pass rusher I don't think you take Cushing there. They should trade down and pick up Alex Mack, Clay Matthews, or Larry English if Ev Brown isn't there.

If the bears take Macklin i def won't like that another sub 6 ft wide receiver we have had a few and still have quite a couple of those. they need to get younger on the interior of the o line some pash rush from the def ends and safety would be nice but we will see i guess.

I'll admit i don't know much about this years draft class I work saturdays and missed alot of college football. i missed the combine this year (first time since they started airing it that i've missed it) and have yet to pick up a draft guide, but that will change today.
I always take the weekend off to watch the draft. i have done for past 13 years. I've seen the bears disappoint me time and time again with their top selection (michael haynes, curtis enis, cade mcnown, david terrell, Rex Grossman 2nd of two 1st rd picks, Ced Benson, marc columbo and everyones favorite stoner rashaan salam) and a few head scratchers Daniel manning at the top of the second. I will admit to owning a cade mcnown jersey and a ced benson jersey those guys man was i way off on them.
Anyone else gonna watch the draft from begining to end like me?

I like the Oakland pick. I think when it comes down to draft day i'd be happy with Jason Smith, Crabtree, or Raji. I would add Curry but the guys a flat out monster who will be selected in the top 5.

I wonder though now with the signing of Barnes, if Cable feels comfortable with Henderson and Barnes at each tackle spot to pass on a OT and go for Crabtree or Raji 7th overall.

This will be the first time in about 6 years I'll be home for the entire weekend. I'm definitely watching the 1st round on Saturday, but we'll see about Sunday. Kinda depends on how bad the Bears front office screws up the first two rounds. lol

I share your skepticism of Maclin. If we don't take an OT in the first, I'll be pissed. Likewise, if we take Andre Smith, I think I'll sob uncontrollably. Give me Eben Britton at 18 and I'm happy.

I usually do a mock every year, but I'm waiting until most of the pro days are over in a week or two. I got Detroit going w/ Jason Smith right now, but I have a feeling they might go Stafford (or even Sanchez) because of the value of a QB at #1.

no way to andre smith as well he'd probably hold out for a big contract as well as disappoint with his play. i know it won't happen but i really hope sanchez free falls ala A. Rodger, Liehart or B Roth and the bears can draft him but that would be as likely as Devon Hester making a adjustment to a ball throw his way (1 in 500 chance) but hey it's possible. Britton would be a safe pick and angelo loves those so if he makes it to 18 that would be a good pick
