new GM is stan bowman son of scotty bowman | They've needed a big power forward since the start of free agency, but they seem to going the way of small and fast with Gomez and Cammelleri. Briere would fit right in with that theory.
Semi finals...great young potential...lose your job????? Can't figure that one out, except they wanted Scotty as an advisor and the only way to get him was through his son????

I bet Scotty didn't even request it. They just know how valuable he is.

gomez is the most over paid player in the nhl imho
cammerlli was good with the flames but he had alot of good players around him we will see what he can do in montreal.
tallon fucked up big time,i'm not a gm or really understand all the paper work and shit but i guess he did not put in some kind of papers on versteeg and troy brower to have them signed to a entry level contract.so insted of singing both guys at the the 750'000 doallar contract that rookies get he had to give them a big contract. versteeg got 9 mil for 3 years.so he cost the team millions of dollars in cap space because he forgot to fill out the paper work.
hope that makes sence

hope that makes sence | Let me clarify what happened because your understanding of it is incorrect. Those players (Barker, Versteeg, Byfuglien, Brower) were scheduled to become a restricted free agents. Tallon did not file the paper properly so, depending on the outcome the NHPA grievance which was filed, they could have been became a UFA instead of a RFA.
As an UFA those players would have been able to go to the highest bidder without the blackhawks getting any compensation. As an RFA they can sign with any team in the league but Chicago would be able to take that contract under the same terms. This happened a couple years ago when Edmonton offered Vanek a 7 year $49 million contract. Buffalo got stuck with the inflated contract. If Buffallo hadn't of matched the offer they would have compensated with picks. The compensation depends on the price of the contract.
Offer sheet = Compensation
$660,000 or below = None
>$660,000 - $1mil = 3rd rounder
>$1 mil - $ 2 mil = 2nd rounder
>$2 mil - $ 3 mil = 1st & 3rd rounder
>$3 mil - $ 4 mil = 1st, 2nd, & 3rd rounder
>$4 mil - $ 5 mil = 2-1st, 2nd, & 3rd rounder
>$5 mil = 4-1st rounders
Because of this comensation teams can lowball a player a little bit when resigning as a RFA. Had Tallon filed correctly and let those players go to a different team he would have gotten 3 1st, 3 2nd, 3rd round picks for them and it would have solve the problem of the cap going down next year. As it is now they are stuck up against the cap this year. Next year the cap is going down significantly and they need to resign their star 2 players. They better hope they win the cup this year because they are going to take 3 steps backwards next year.

From time to time we hear stories about players who were essentially knocked out of the NHL due to health issues or retired, but still play a role in the league. If you post an article related to one of these stories, just use the following title: 'Where are they now?'

Yet again, the little weasel Bettman stepping, trying to flex for all to see..and again, all because the owners can't control themselves.
Bettman wants to investigate and try to stop all long term contracts??? Fuck that, he threw away a whole year of hockey to get the contract he got with the NHLPA, their agents are smart enough to manipulate it a little in their favour, and the owners are so brain dead, they revert to not being able to control themselves, and Big bad Bettman needs to step in and save the day.
Fuck you Bettman
