Two players have scored against their own teams this past week. Halak (in a losing effort against the Wings 7-3) and Perry (whose team had the extra skater while trying for a tie to go to OT). Even if I were present at those games I couldn't have laughed. I just feel sorry for them.

Here's a bit of a modern trivia question;
What players, who are still considered to be really good, have left the NHL to play elsewhere? The reason why this question comes to mind is that Fedorov, whom I know personally, has been playing in Russia the last couple of years, however he is way past his prime.
I am thinking Yashin and Jagr to start with......who else can you think of?

Well depending on how far back you want to go...Bobby Hull left to play in the WHA...but as for more modern and leaving to play in Europe......Evgeni Nabakov left San Jose this year to play in Europe, although he recently got permission to leave, so speculation is he'll be back in the NHL soon.

So its not even January yet but the Eastern conference playoffs are pretty much decided. Right now the 7 and 8 seed teams are the Bruins and Rangers (the Bruins have played 2-4 games less then everyone else so come on, they are more like the 3-5 seed). And the Bruins are currently 6 points up on Ottawa and Carolina and the Rangers are 8. Does anyone really see the Sens or Canes catching anyone and making the playoffs? The team right behind them is the Panthers and I am more then comfortable writing that team off. So unless the Sens or Canes get hot and another team collapses, then it looks like the East is already settled.
And it would have to be a huge collapse. The Caps are 2-5-3 in their last 10 games and still have an 11 point lead over the 9 seed. So we are looking at one team having to win 5-7 in a row and another team losing 5-7 in a row. If I was a fan of a team in the top 8 of the East right now (and I am) I would start to consider saving money for playoff tickets.
