That's two now! Abdelkader has some nice tricks up his sleeve. Osgood is even better this year, I think. He's playing his A game and seems solid.
Let's make it 3. |

When is Datsyuk back?
Except for the second half of the 1st period, the Wings looked very strong.
How about my boy Zetterburg? I don't ever recall seeing him fight before.

I've seen the Penguins get nasty throughout the playoffs. Taking cheap shots to the goalies after a save (or three). This team (Penguins) have not really improved from last year. They are just about as good. Most cannot see it as they are in a conference that clearly has trouble putting the clamps down on their stars, but the Wings have shown that with the right coaching it can be done. Look at how well Ericsson has done against them.
The scary thing is that many of the Wings were visibly tired. If they can beat a team winning the stats (save for goals/goals against) then a refreshed Wings team is going to be something to watch.
I think they'll take one game in Pittsburgh and it'll be game 4. Just a guess. Of course, I want to see Detroit win the Cup at home as it didn't happen that way last year.

If the Wings win tonight, the Penguins will be in a deep, deep hole. I love it! I would like to see the Wings win it at home as well, however I think I can live with them winning it in 4 straight.

I'm not really cheering for either team, but I wouldn't mind seeing Sid win one though.
I thought the Pens would find a way to get to Osgood a little more. Having said that, the 'Wings have been blessed so far with some pretty sweet bounces, and friendly calls.

Very interesting!
The Pens still didn't look real great until the 3rd, but they managed to pull it out.

Major, major fuck up last night by the refs. I can't believe the Pens got away with having too many men on the ice for a full 21 seconds, and the refs didn't call it, or even seem to notice it. Instead of the Pens getting a penalty like they should have, the Wings ended up getting one very shortly after that, where the Pens ended up scoring on the power play. It completely changed the outcome of the game. Sure, there's nothing that can be done about it now, but believe me....if the Pens somehow went on to win this series, everyone will look back at that non-call, and will be calling for the refs' heads......well, at least the Wings fans. The refs should be severely reprimanded for that, especially it being the Stanley Cup finals!
I hope the Wings take the next 2 and it ends up being a non-issue.

The Red Wings are the better team.
Oh, and how about Datsyuk? NHL.com - 2009 Stanley Cup Final: Detroit vs. Pittsburgh: Datsyuk is bound and determined to play in Game 4 - 06/03/2009
Oh, yeah. |
