Thread: Question regarding Alessio Sakara

  1. Default Question regarding Alessio Sakara

Just curious as to what injury he had that made him pull out of his fight with Jake Rosholt? I can't really find anything on it.

    Nevermind, found the answer....

Shut down with a shoulder injury and unable to compete at next month's UFC Fight Night 17 event, Alessio Sakara (13-7 MMA, 4-4 UFC) has been replaced by Dan Miller (10-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC), who will now take on middleweight Jake Rosholt (5-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC).

Sakara's camp told MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) the shoulder injury will likely sideline the fighter for a month.

According to a forum posting from his Team Takedown management team, Rosholt will now instead face Miller.

UFC Fight Night 17 takes place Feb. 17 at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla., and airs on Spike TV.

Miller, a one-time IFL fighter who defeated Ryan McGivern in his lone appearance in the organization, signed and debuted with the UFC in 2008. He defeated Rob Kimmons via submission in his octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 15 and then scored a unanimous-decision victory over Matt Horwich at UFC 90.

Miller is now 8-0 (with one no-contest) in his past nine fights.

Rosholt, a three-time NCAA Division I national wrestling champion at Oklahoma State University, recently made the move from the WEC, the UFC's sister promotion, to the UFC after the WEC recently eliminated its 205- and 185-pound weight classes. In his lone WEC appearance, he defeated then-undefeated fighter Nissen Osterneck via second-round TKO.

The victory pushed Rosholt's career record to 5-0, which has included five stoppages (four via TKO and one via submission).

The Rosholt-Miller fight takes place on the night's un-aired preliminary card.
