it doesn't matter where the bouncers are from.... they're all the same.

I'll wait for more facts to arrive before making judgment. Alistair is a beast and easily one of my favorite HW fighters in the world.

Some advice? Don't **** with the Demolition Man.

I'm with Thumper on this one. There is MUCH more to the story than this piece of "journalism" is divulging. Past negative experience in some twink club with overzealous bouncers doesn't automatically make them universally at fault in every scenario.

While it may or may not actually be the case, I personally have a difficult time believing Overeem would politely attempt to diffuse the situation by any civil means.

The role of innocent victim doesn't exactly suit him.

I noticed the arguing more too. You know what it is? Since I'd say 80% of the good posters here left, we're left with primarily UFC TUF fans taht have no real knowledge of this sport other than what they saw on the last UFC PPV.

I get really frustrated about that. I was going to leave here a few months ago because I figured if I stayed all I'd do is end up arguing with the mass flooding of weekend fans that know mostly nothing. But against my better judgement I stayed, and that's exactly what's happened.

See, it use to be those moronic stupid statements would get flattened so fast because this place was full of knowledgeable people, that there was never any momentum for the herds of them to gain ground, but that's just not the case anymore.

What happens is, I see some really stupid shit people say, and I remember it. So the next time they say something that's really not THAT stupid, but is borderline, I'm already adding it to the last dumb thing. So when i bitch to them, it comes off like I'm blasting for no reason.

hard to explain really, but I'm thinking i'm done with this place. the fun is completely gone and this place is full of newb fans that know next to nothing, but they're lighting fast to blurt out these really dumb statements, having no desire to learn.

That's the smartest post in the thread. But then you went and fucked it up by posting one of the most notorious bouncer-abuse vids on the net as though it was an illustration of how every bouncer acts.

I think it's funny how people immediately get all over Thumper's shit for "making assumptions" about AO, but then half of them are even more quick to lump all bouncers across the globe into one neatly packaged stereotype. So assumptions are only bad when you disagree with them?

I've worked in bars in both the US and in Europe. I've worked with great bouncers and assholes. I've had great customers and asshole customers who needed a bit of physical encouragement to act civilized and/or leave the establishment.

Sometimes the bouncers were out of line, but sometimes--even the assholes I worked with--were doing their job.

I think AO is almost as overhyped as Kongo and he comes off as an asshole both in bouts and in interviews. While I don't know anything about his brother's behavior, I'm disinclined to accept a whitewashed blog post as absolute truth. I'm betting all parties involved could have done a lot to avoid the issue devolving into what actually happened.

I guess that night club has 5 openings now for security. Those bouncers should of been tactful and asked them if the were VIP's or tried to de-escalate the problem. Two 6-5 guys in the restroom I would of been asking questions before swinging at those guys.

you're right, this place did have a better vibe about a year ago and yes some good posters left but i remeber when i first came here i knew nothing about nothing as far as MMA outside the ufc was concerned. bring the clock forward to today i am one of the biggest supporters of mma outside the UFC. Why? Because some one with more knowledge, like yourself and the like shared their knowledge with me and as much as i don't wanna admit this, at times i even enjoyed Palmas posts LoL.
like any other site there will be bickering, people will come and go.... Such is life.
however it would be a great loss if you were to leave so allow me to suggest something.
how about you change your AV to

and teach these grasshoppers a thing or 2

I agree with thumper that likely isn't the entire story. I don't know that I agree with his view of what happened. The whole Valentine was "discussing" the issue on his way out with the bouncers when one apparently smacked him w/ a flashlight out of nowhere isn't a realistic story.

If I had to speculate it would likely be that Valentine was upset and either was refusing to leave or was causing a scene and had to be escorted out. A bouncer probably grabbed his arm and he got defensive and in return a bouncer likely hit him.

But that is just my speculation and is to be taken with a grain of salt.
