UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones is heading to NASCAR's Daytona 500.

Jones serves as an honorary race official for the 54th annual Sprint Cup Series race, which takes place Feb. 26 at Daytona International Speedway in Florida.

The race airs on UFC broadcast partner FOX.

"I am thrilled to be able to serve as honorary race official at this year's Daytona 500, NASCAR's premier event," Jones stated in a release. "Like the UFC, NASCAR has a passionate and knowledgeable fan base, and I am honored that I will get to share this experience with them."

So what does a race official do then, and what makes Jon Jones qualified to be one?

I have no clue, I dont watch Daytona....

Daytona USA, fuck that was a good video game. I used to love to cut class back in the day, get stoned and go play Daytona USA at the arcade.

Dominick just did some shit with Daytona too, pace car driver or something... Fox is behind it all. Co branding that shit.

I think he gets to say "Gentlemen start your engines". Maybe wave the green flag or something.

To people that like Nascar explain me what is so special in that "sport"?
To me, it is extremely boring.

    The crashes...

Seriously though, I have no idea what people find so fascinating about people driving in circles at really high speeds.

I was never a fan of it either, although I do have friends who are religious about it. I went to a race with them a couple fourth of July's ago in Daytona. One of the coolest experiences I've ever had. Much better in person.
