Damn, was hoping Belcher could continue to fight higher ranked guys and get his career back on track

Also, this is random, but when do I get to see Palhares/Shields??

Well, to look at it another way, sonnen has absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain, and Machida has everything to lose and very little to gain that he can't get another, more profitable way.

dana's response is that Machida is now one fight against a top LHW away from getting a rematch. So he wins one fight and he gets a full camp to focus on Jones. If he win's his next fight, he's got a rematch in January-ish, with the force of a full camp behind him. He doesn't have to fight on short notice, it's pretty win-win. Well, win one fight and then win-win.

Sonnen is probably 3 or 4 wins from a title shot anyway, so even if he went on a successful tear, he's looking at 2014. And that's saying he'll be successful.

I dunno, I think it's punkassed to turn down fights. I do. But there are degrees of punkassed-ness, and I think Machida is about a 3 out of 10 for this. Shogun is about a 2. Jones is about an 8.

Haha, I agree with you there. My rating punkassed-ness rating system might not be exactly like yours, but its very similar.

    Belched should face Weidman

Vitor always has that chance to turn anybody's lights out, plus he's at the blackzilians camp now.

Jones opens a huge 13 to 1 favorite over Belfort - Mixed Martial Arts News
    -1300 favorite on Sportsbook.

That leaves "The Phenom," who was originally scheduled to throw hands against Alan Belcher at UFC 153 in Rio, as the +700 underdog for his trip up to "Hogtown."

You know why Vitor, Weidman, and Chael didnt turn down Jones... Because they never fought Jones...

Id love to see how quickly Sonnen wants to rematch Jones after Jon beats him down.

Belcher vs. Weidman would be a great fight... it would make up for Vitor's absence... If Chris won that fight, Anderson would likely have to face him.
Only odd part, is that, the scheduled fight between belcher and vitor was in brazil. It would be odd to have them fight on that card, as they typically have a Brazilian in almost every fight, specifically on the main card.

Vitor would get insight from Evans who trained with Jones and lasted for 5 rounds.... Also training with AO for the height/reach...

but that isnt going to give him elite TDD in 4 weeks... which is what he needs...

Vitor can KO anyone standing if he gets off... at MW or LHW... He has the fastest hands in MMA imo, good power to go along with it as well as solid fundamental boxing.

The problem will be Jones' length, kicking attack and wrestling.

Damn I forgot its in Brazil, but I think its dumb they try to put a Brazilian in every fight when they're there.

Definitely agree about the tdd, but IMO Jones cracks when ppl push forward a bit. I think Vitor needs to just go for broke out the gate. If he stands in front of Jones, the fight hits the ground. I believe a bad kick from Jones can be caught by Vitor like he did against Anderson, where he grabbed his leg and barely missed that vicious overhand he threw. Come to think of it, idk why people haven't tried that. Catch a kick and attack or pull a single, a double is pretty much impossible due to how far you have to shoot in on Jones.
