I don't really see any controversy in the Edgar/Aldo fight. Edgar was picking up steam at the end of the 3rd and in the 4th, but the 5th looked like Aldo's round. The only round that was clearly Edgar's was the 4th. I was hoping the fight would be more competitive, but it is what it is. Based on that performance though, I think Aldo could win the belt at 155 fairly easily.

Loved the Maia/Fitch fight. I always felt Fitch was overrated, building his record mostly on low ranked fighters while struggling against top 10 fighters who aren't named Thiago Alves. Maia not only showed great BJJ, his wrestling was top notch. Fitch couldn't stop his takedowns while being unable to mount any offense himself. Imo Hendricks/Maia would be a really good fight to make.

Right I could not believe fitch was getting taken down, I'm pretty sure he was shocked too, Maia is starting to make some noise toward a title shot. If he can continue to work on his striking and wrestling, and maybe finish his next 2 opponents....that would be an interesting fight for GSP. It's one thing to KO Fitch, but to dominate and grapple fuck the master grapple fucker....that's pretty fucking special too....gotta give credit to Fitch's toughness. Most fighters would have broken and sub-consciously allowed Maia to sink in the choke, he never gave up.

If I were to be completely realistic in my films, you would call me a violent, bloody man. I would simply destroy my opponent by tearing his guts out. I wouldn't do it so artistically." ~Bruce Lee

I don't recall that fight. I would like to see it as well as a rematch. I would be just as happy to see reem vs jds or reem vs anyone.

    Great night of fights overall.

Aldo vs Edgar was a great fight. Frankie Edgar is a bad dude, got hit with a bunch of good punches and leg kicks but didn't really slow down at all. He fired back and found his range midway through the fight and ended up making it very competitive and once again Aldo ends a title defense pretty spent. Aldo's expression changed from a smile to that of a worried/much more respectful look pretty damn quick after Frankie cracked him with a few good right hands.

Aldo's jab and footwork were just a little too good early, but once he slowed down a bit Frankie started mixing it up pretty well. And Frankie had a pretty good slam.

    I scored it 48-47 Aldo.

It really should be Aldo vs Lamas next, but that text message from Pettis now may say otherwise. That would be a crazy fight.
If Struve wins he'll have a 5 fight win streak going. I'd say give him the shot.

So many good possible matchups for Aldo right now and your right Lamas probably should get the next shot. Not a fan of Pettis and I'd like to see Aldo beat him. Right now with Jose in his prime it's hard to see anyone beating him at 145... or 155.

Hunt has improved a lot since then, while Overeem seems to have regressed.
