Korean-based fight promotion ROAD FC has signed former DREAM and Shooto champ Joachim Hansen (22-11-1).
Promotion officials recently announced the addition of the Norwegian to the promotion's roster, and "Hellboy" is expected to debut at ROAD FC 011, which is scheduled for April 13 in Seoul.
Hansen, of course, is best known for his 25-fight run competing in Japan, where he defeated such MMA notables as Shinya Aoki, Gesias "JZ" Cavalcante, Yves Edwards, Takanori Gomi, Masakazu Imanari, Rumina Sato and Caol Uno, among others.
It was the July 2008 win over Aoki that serves as Hansen's career high-point thus far, earning him DREAM's lightweight title. Aoki would claim subsequently claim the belt in an October 2009 rematch, prompting Hansen to drop to 145 pounds, where he lost back-to-back fights to Hiroyuki Takaya and Bibiano Fernandes.
Hansen also earned Shooto's welterweight title early in his career after scoring a 2003 decision win over Gomi. However, he would relent that belt later that same year after suffering a submission loss to Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro.
A Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt who has also recently started competing as a professional kickboxer, Hansen has since bounced back in his MMA career with three wins in his past four fights. His first opponent at ROAD FC is expected to be announced shortly.
