The MMA world has been without Jake Shields for a while now. He has served his suspension and now is scheduled to fight Tyron Woodley at UFC 161. BJPENN.com radio was able to catch up with him and talk about a variety of topics, one of those topics was his suspension.

Shields fought Ed Herman at UFC 150 and won the fight by Unanimous Decision. It was a nice victory for the former Strikeforce Middleweight champion, after beating Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 144 he, at the time, was on a nice two-fight win streak. That all came crashing down when it was revealed that he failed a drug test for taking a prohibited substance.

The fight took place in Colorado, which is a non-disclosure state, so it was never revealed what specific drug Shields took that caused the failed test. In a sobering moment following the announcement of his failed test Shields released a press statement owning up to taking the substance and vowed it would never happen again.

Now that he is scheduled to fight again, it is inevitable that he will be questioned about the drug test. When he spoke with BJPENN.com radio this is what he had to say about the situation:

的値l talk to my manager. Maybe I値l come out and talk about the details, it (failed drug test) was one of those things where I made a little mistake. And figure the best way to deal with the fights coming up I haven稚 done really any interviews lately but I知 sure I値l be dealing with it all again. Maybe it痴 something I値l bring up and get into further detail soon.
In this age of 渡eed to know society it will be brought up, and brought up, and brought up until he reveals the drug that he took. It is unfortunate, because it really makes no difference what drug it was, all that matters is he admitted to doing it and accepted his suspension. Now he痴 back ready to step into the octagon, and ready to prove to the world that he is not done yet.

From the power in his punches, we all know it was any form of roids.
