I now understand why Muhammed Lawal lost to Emanuel Newton last month in Utah.

What chance did "King Mo" have when he was facing a guy who fights gangs of skinheads in his spare time? That's the word from the streaking "Hardcore Kid," who beat up a bunch of balding bigots at a recent concert, according to his conversation with Sherdog.com:

"I went to this show -- it wasn't a hardcore show by any means, but maybe some of the older guys would consider it to be hardcore. Strife, in my opinion, was really the only true hardcore band on this show. I guess those skinheads kind of frequent that place. I haven't seen skinheads at a hardcore show since, like, 2001. I saw them, and I was like, ‘Great,' but there were also a lot of hardcore kids who were there to see Strife, and we definitely outnumbered the skinheads. The pit had just started, and I could really tell that they were checking us out. I started circle-pitting, and a guy tried to trip me. I turned and looked, and I knew it was a white power guy. One guy had ‘white power' tattooed on the back of his head. I went over to my friends and told them to keep their eyes open. After I warned my boys, one of those guys came up and just blatantly took a swing at me. I saw it coming, of course, so I slipped it and threw a punch that dropped him and put him out. [His friends] then started jumping in. I think one of them shot a double-leg on me, and I was up against the stage. Then some white power girl came up and started swinging at me. I just tucked my chin, put my head down and said, ‘Go ahead and punch me in my forehead and the top of my head all you want. You're just going to have a broken hand in the morning.' All my buddies jumped in, and they just demolished the guys. I didn't have to do anything more, because all my boys either train MMA or they fight, too. So they came in and just smashed the guys."

    Yikes.

Newton (20-7) will try to parlay his recent success into his third straight win for Bellator, when he takes on Mikhail Zayats (21-6) in tonight's continuation of the light heavyweight tournament from the Sun Dome at the University of Southern Florida, live on Spike TV.

They clear out a lot of space at smaller shows, not to mention they had a circle pit going. I've been to some rough concerts and in my experiences I would say you have to watch out for straight edge kids more then the skinheads.

When I was younger I was all about hardcore music and the whole scene. I wasn't straight edge, but I always found it funny how the straight edge kids were the most violent and hypocritical of the whole scene. There was some good music with some positive messages, but overall I'm glad I grew outta that.

Used to love the pits. Wish I could go to a concert with a good one. I sure don't like the assholes that are out to hurt people. I would always look for them and start shit.

I love moshpits. It's been a while but i'll be rocking in some in a few weeks.

I don't go into pits trying to drill someone in the face or hurt anyone. I don't mind getting a little bloody though as long as my teeth stay intact and my nose unbroken.

I like doing the wall of death. That's when the band splits the pit in two opposing sides and everyone just runs at each other when the music hits hard, and just, well... beats the hell out of each other.

    Random facts in the moshpit:

    - I took part in my first mosh pit when I was 13 at an Orgy/Crossbreed concert. I was hitting people with my elbows (I didn't know any better), speared my friend I went with who was 18-19 at the time across the bear soaked floor on accident (didn't know it was him), and cracked heads with this older dude while we were headbanging so hard that I stopped to check if my head didn't split open. I loved it.

    - I once moshed through most of a Mushroomhead show in the SMALLEST place ever. I was literally a foot away from the band. While jumping and going crazy to a song, this older, fat drunk guy starts shit with this other stocky, bald dude. Well the drunk guy swings and ends up getting floored and beat up on the ground. This all happens at my feet while I still jumped and laughed. He deserved it.

Suicide Machines did the wall of death one of the Warped Tours I was at. What a fucking scene.

Newton's story makes me think of the fight scene from Higher Learning (minus a moshpit):

Anyone who fights at shows is an asshole. I've seen great bars and venues closed based on that bullshit.

If you need to be a tough guy, take it outside.
