Gegardi Mousasi hints at move back to middleweight - Mixed Martial Arts News

Mousasi recently questioned whether or not a move back to middleweight would be the best for his career:

Mousasi (34-3-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) , who's 21-1-1 over his past 24 fighters, hinted at a potential move down to middleweight.

"Hey everybody, what you think about if I go to 185?" he tweeted today. "I am curious what people think about this idea."

The 185-division isn't uncharted territory for the 27-year-old, who previously held DREAM's middleweight title after winning the organization's grand prix in 2008. However, he later signed with Strikeforce, where he held the organization's title in the light-heavyweight division. All of Mousasi's recent work has come in the weight class.

I think it's the best thing for him. I see him having trouble with a lot of the top ten light-heavyweights.

Mousasi would be best off at MW, without a doubt.

dropping down is his best choice, easily. he'll end up losing too many close decisions to larger wrestlers at 205, and few opponents will have a size advantage over him at 185. remember, he was the man to beat anderson silva three years ago before signing with strikeforce and beating the fuck out of babalu, and he's still young. i don't know that he would beat silva, but if not he can easily wait him out and become a champion. i'd pick him over the bisping/belcher/boetsch tier easily, have him over belfort, and say he can win smart fights against sonnen or weidman. it's about damn time he fulfills his potential.

so uhh... what are we waiting for?

no-brainer. He will fit right in and mix it up perfectly with the top of the middleweight division. I dont even want to start drooling at the match-up possibilities and the potential...

lets not get too carried away, hopefully he does this ASAP tho!

This is really excellent news. I hope to hell he's serious about it, 185 is where he fits best.

Never sold on Mouse being a LHW fighter. But at MW? Dudes a beast.
