    The quote

Diaz said the move has everything to do with compelling matchups and nothing to do with the weight cuts needed to get down to 156 pounds.
made me think it was justifying a move back up, not down. But odd how the article doesn't actually say...

The thing I always worry about is being prone to injury. Though I suppose Miller has held up there too thus far.

    EDIT:

    The article actually says:

And, in fact, it's one in which he's competed before: welterweight.

IMO he should stay at 155, has the best shot there to continue winning.

Nate was talking going up not down. I dont think Nate could even make 145. Nate said he is getting older, tired of cutting weight and his boy Gil is going to own the LW div anyways.

Hindsight being 20/20, I too never expected Nate to demolished. But he did. So now how do interpret his impending move to the WW division?

I heard some great pre-fight analysis (MMAOddsBreaker.com) and they predicted that Thomson's agility and leg kicks would give Nate problems. The rule of thumb is that as you move up in weight class, fighters get slower and less agile, so even though Nate lacks diversity in his striking, I can't imagine many WW strikers implementing Josh's game plan. But as someone else mentioned, there's still that wrestling problem.

I think Nate would have more success at LW, but his potential will be limited until finds a new approach and mixes something up.

Dana White Says Return to Welterweight for Nate Diaz Would Be 'Big Mistake' | Bleacher Report
"I think going to 170's a big mistake," White said. "Big, strong guys at 170. If he can make (1)55, look what happened tonight at 55."

Dana put it best, my first thought was "really Nate? after what happened against Thompson you want to face guys that hit harder?".

he'd get outhustled by any decent wrestler.

stay at 155 Nate for the love of god!

After seeing his body last night at 155, Nate has ZERO muscle tone and his reactions are VERY slow against a mobile fighter.

I hate to speak against Nate but what you just said is on point. In all honesty I think he is changing weight classes to try and avoid getting cut by DW.

By doing so there is a small chance he can pick up a win and avoid the chopping block. Then again if I was DW I would never cut guys that put on a good showing win, lose or draw.
