  1. Default Leonard Garcia: ďIf I donít win, I donít want to be in the UFC.Ē

    Leonard Garcia:

UFC featherweight Leonard Garcia has a reputation for turning in tremendous efforts that arenít necessarily technical gems but highly entertaining nonetheless. However, Garciaís style isnít exactly conducive to having his hand raised either and has resulted in 3-6-1 record in his last ten tilts including losses in a quartet of consecutive clashes.

Garcia will attempt to avoid #5 this weekend when he mixes it up with Cody McKenzie at UFC 159. While it seems obvious the 33-year old will be fighting for his job come showtime, Garcia doesnít want to be on the UFC roster if defeated regardless of how exciting his effort may be.

ďI feel like every fight in the UFC is that way, but this one, for sure, is. I feel like it doesnít matter what kind of performance I have. If I donít win, I donít want to be in the UFC,Ē admitted Garcia in a recent conversation with MMAFighting. ďIf youíre not winning, why do you want to be there?Ē
When asked to examine the source of his strife, Garcia explained heís always enjoyed pleasing fans even if it meant sacrificing success. Now, with his UFC career in jeopardy, Garcia knows itís time to show he can still be the ďBad BoyĒ without literally being bad.

ďI feel like I get into these exchanges and these scraps. I take a shot to give a shot. And even though sometimes I feel like thatís exciting and itís fun to watch, and itís a good fight, I need to stray away from that and start showing my skills Ė not just showing the guy who can go out there and put on a show. I donít feel like Iím going to lose any fans because of it, because even my skills sets are still entertaining,Ē said Garcia. ďI still try to knock guys out in the gym. I still try to take you down as hard as I can. I still try to grapple really hard, and I feel like itís still going to be entertaining. I just need to be more on-point.Ē
Fans can catch Garcia (15-10-1) and McKenzie (13-3) go at it on the Facebook portion of the preliminary card.

Well well Garcia, what's it gonna be?
Are you gonna go to the high school playgrounds and try to win some fights there?

Leonard Garcia's future 'not looking good' after UFC 159 loss | News

NEWARK, N.J. – Despite some slugfests, a handful of bonuses, and UFC executives' obvious soft spot for him, Leonard Garcia's days in the organization may be numbered.

Following the free-swinging featherweight's loss to Cody McKenzie at Saturday's UFC 159 event, UFC President Dana White admitted the prospects look bleak for Garcia getting another fight in organization.

His unanimous-decision loss to McKenzie (14-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC), which aired as part of the Facebook-streamed prelims at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., marked his fifth straight defeat in the UFC. Additionally, despite six "Fight of the Night" bonuses during his tenure with the UFC and WEC, Garcia (15-11-1 MMA, 2-7 UFC) hasn't won a fight via anything but split decision since November 2008.

"I don't want to say it, but it's not looking good," White told MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps) after the fight.
Garcia's other recent losses have come to Chan Sung Jung, Nam Phan, Matt Grice and Max Holloway. However, unlike some of those recent performances, Garcia never really found any openings or a rhythm against the submission specialist McKenzie, who ultimately won via 29-28, 30-27 and 30-27 scores, though it should have been a clean sweep.

"He got beat," White said. "He even got beat standing up. Cody McKenzie beat him tonight, every way you can beat a guy."
After the fight, Garcia, who unsuccessfully vied for the WEC featherweight title in 2009, could offer little beyond the obvious.

"Obviously I'm very disappointed," he said. "The fight didn't got the way I planned. I don't know what else to say."

he looked old and depleted before, during and after the fight and got dominated by cody mckenzie. I think its time for leonard to call it quits.
