Cheick Kongo cut, apparently - Mixed Martial Arts News

Cheick Kongo's profile was removed from UFC.com, the usual sign that he has been released by the promotion.

Kongo fought in the UFC over a seven-year span, going a very respectable 11-6-1

Kongo looked like a better fighter than he ever was. He was good for the HW div when it was slim pickens

He's had a solid run and made himself a good career in the UFC.

I think Japanese fans would eat him up.

Kinda weird that they would cut Kongo, when they never cut Pat Barry, who had worst stretches of being KO and sub'd. I hope they give him one more chance. There are still plenty of highlight reel matchups for him....

I think the difference is Barry fight usually means highlight reel no matter what giving or receiving . When Kongo gets a stand up opponent he usually takes him down n bores us to death if he gets stuck standing he's nothing but short grabbing and nut shots. Anyone and everyone knew Roy was going to knock him the fuck out I was laughing about it at work telling all the casuals how fat boy was gunna own poster boy.

I never understood the billing Frances most feared striker always grinded my gears.
I really believe that people like Bill Murray or John Belushi are just as great and just as valid as Robert De Niro or Al Pacino. And I don't think you can say One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) is a better movie than Animal House (1978); they're different genres. I think they're both examples of great craftsmanship.

Haha I saw it coming. My one friend almost never watches the fights, but he could not believe that a living action figure got knocked out by a guy that looks like me.

Barry is more of a crowd favorite though. He does a great job in keeping his fan base happy and always has exciting fights to boot. I'm not saying he shouldn't have been kicked, but thats probably why he wasn't. Also Kongo is a dirty fighter and I think he rubs a lot of fans the wrong way.

I didn't see this one coming but Dana said there were going to be a lot more after they cut Fitch.
