Vitor Belfort wants to out fighters using TRT: 'They should release the names of everyone on it' - MMAmania.com

If you want to know which of your favorite (or least favorite) fighters are on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), you have to submit a formal inquiry to the athletic commission following a mixed martial arts (MMA) event to inquire about who -- if anyone -- was granted a therapeutic use exemption (TUE).

Sometimes you get it, sometimes you don't, depending on the locale.

That's the sort of legwork Vitor Belfort would like to eliminate going forward. And "The Phenom" figures the best way to do that is to just go ahead and release the names of every fighter who uses TRT. After all, it's not illegal, so what do they have to be ashamed about?

From his conversation with MMA Fighting:

"I'm the type of fighter that steps into the jungle not fearing anything. I'm there to fight, to do my best. My motivation is not him. It's not what people say, it's not what people think. My motivation, no one can steal it, or my my gifts and my talents. I develop them every day. I'm new every day ... I'm not doing anything illegal. I think people have to have this choice, you know? I think they should release [the name] of everyone that's on it. For me, it's no problem. I'm not doing anything illegal, so I'm not ashamed of anything."
It's an interesting position, considering how long Belfort refused to admit he was on TRT.

"The Phenom," who joins fellow fighters Forrest Griffin, Frank Mir, Chael Sonnen and Dan Henderson, among others, in the TRT club, was publicly criticized by Luke Rockhold for "not being a man" ahead of their UFC on FX 8 main event this Saturday night (May 18, 2013) in Brazil.

Belfort said the former Strikeforce champ doesn't know what he's talking about.

Speaking TRT, UFC President Dana White has already gone on record to condemn the use of the drug and even went as far as to call it cheating (see his comments here). In addition, the Las Vegas fight boss says anyone using the stuff to keep their career afloat is "probably too old to be fighting."

"I leave this as a declaration of intent, so no one will get confused. 1: Si vis pacum para bellum. Latin. If you want peace, prepare for war. 2: Frank Castle is dead. He died with his family. 3: In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacies, it is necessary to act outside the law. To pursue natural justice. This isn't vengeance. Revenge is not a valid motive, it's an emotional response. No, not vengeance. Punishment "

This is hilarious. First vitor says that he has no reason to tell anyone if he is on TRT and that he has no opinion on it since its legal. Then he gets outed and receives a shit ton of backlash, so now he wants everyone else on TRT to be outed.

Well since he's been getting his balls busted over it he wants to share the fun with the others. The thing is, Vitor is trying to turn this into a "he's on TRT" witch hunt for him when in reality it's about his previous abuse of steroids and that being the cause of his low T.

If there is a legit cause then I can handle the use of TRT. Just as someone needing medication for asthma or if Dan Hardy needed meds/surgery for his heart condition to allow him to fight again. And if there is strict oversight of the process.

Im not sure there really is such a thing as a legit cause when it comes to sports. For someone with an everyday non sports performance based job sure.....but an edge is an edge in sports. If your body is taking a turn then why should you be able to take something to let you perform like you are 10 years younger?
