Thread: Dana White Feels No Vindication Following Jon Fitch’s Defeat

He was at least a millionaire. Probably should be more but from the sounds of it, he mismanaged his money while in the UFC. People get mistreated all the time at their jobs making minimum wage.

    Certainly.

But that doesn't A. Make it ok. B. Justify the support some parties give the UFC. and C. He never complained about money.

Boring, snoring, sleeping Princess Fitch was treating just fine as a UFC fighter and he did complain about money. In hindsight he mismanaged his money and his employment in the UFC.

    I guess you're right.

Everyone has to win 8 fights (4 finishes) against the likes of Thiago Alves, Brock Larson, and Diego to even get a title shot and, immediately following a loss to the champ is moved to the undercard.

I'm not carrying Fitch's flag here but CLEARLY there was far more to it than wins/losses.

Top 10 fighter was released due to two losses against other top 10 competition..

    Logical? No.

When you bring in the external circumstances between Dana and his brashness & ego due to the video game fiasco, it makes sense. It makes sense that Fitch was released for personal reasons. If it really was about money, they would have renegotiated.

Fact of the matter is that Fitch was right. Dana made the work environment hostile with his nature of treating people whose attitude he does not like (anyone who does not brown nose).

Sakara is just showing once again that he is the biggest fan of Dana White on this board.

What you consider boring, I consider technique.

Fitch utilized his ability to negate fighter's strengths much better than the likes of Jake Shields. Jake Shields should be the poster boy what for you complain about rather than Fitch. Fitch fights more like a Chael Sonnen than a Jake Shields.

By the way, Fitch did not mismanage his money. He bought his parents a home and owns his own home and a gym. 20% of his 1.2 million over 8 years went to his manager. The rest got taxed. Then came gym fees. If you look back he made 60-70k after taxes average per year.

60-70k a year is a pretty decent wage. Hard to sympathize with someone having "money troubles" whos making 2x what a lot of single-income households raise kids on.

As for his place on the card(s) following the GSP loss, unless your name is Bisping or Diaz, usually your stock falls after a loss. Did his drop a little farther then expected? sure, but Im pretty sure he was back on the televised card after that fight no? Not long after that, back to co-mains? He still got his paydays right? Seems like making a big deal out of very little to me..

Fitch was not complaining about money, but instead candidly explaining what was happening in his life.

Jon Fitch Discusses Nagging Financial Problems Leading Up To UFC 153 | TheMMANews

This was an interview from when Jon Fitch was talking about his frustration of the shoulder injury which kept him from his rematch with BJ Penn. Jon Fitch was not complaining about the money he was making. How he made some financial mistakes. How his child had just been born. Jon Fitch complaining about what the UFC was paying him is a misnomer and a false narrative. Fitch was complaining about how he could not fight and could not provide for his family.

Perhaps he was being too real for your liking and you did not pay enough attention to know more than 10% of the story.
