Mike Kyle-Anthony Johnson set for September scrap - Five Ounces of Pain | RM Sports

Two of the hardest-hitting fighters on the WSOF roster are lined up to lock horns in a few months thanks to a match-up between light heavyweights Anthony Johnson and Mike Kyle. Though not officially announced, Johnson himself confirmed the clash with Kyle would take place on September 14 in Atlantic City at WSOF 5.

“Rumble” revealed the bout’s existence in a recent conversation with MMA Interviews.

Johnson is coming off a decision win over Andrei Arlovski in a heavyweight tilt. The victory was his fifth straight and improved his overall record to 15-4. Ten of his wins have featured a strike-based stoppage including three of those notched during his current run.

The 20-9 Kyle is coming off a 21-second starching of Travis Wiuff in May. The finish was the sixteenth of his career with all but three coming by way of knockout.

Yeah, kind of a lame fight in my opinion. Rumble should take this quite easily.

If you asked me a year or two ago, I would have said the Johnson would have gotten destroyed by Kyle, however, Johnson looks like a different beast when he is not cutting a tonne of weight, so surprised by the Arlovski fight (although, maybe Arlovski has just declined so much).

might catch some flack for this but I always thought Arlovski was very overrated from the start. Who are his biggest wins? Werdum and Nelson? Hes lost to anyone of note since the start of his career, not sure why he was so hyped up to begin with, and I wasnt the least surprised that AJ beat him.

I think the fight could go either way. If Rumble can take Mike Kyle's best shot and not get KOd or finished on the ground, then I predict he wins.

Mike Kyle is so unpedictable. Could be a snoozefest, or it could be a slugfest.

If anyone questions mike Kyle's power, re-watch the fight he has with Bigfoot Silva. He nearly finished Bigfoot inside of 1 minute, and if it were another ref, it probably would have been a Mike Kyle win at HW.

A light-heavyweight bout between Anthony Johnson (15-4) and Mike Kyle (20-9-1) will headline World Series of Fighting's fifth event, officials today announced.

WSOF 5 takes place Sept. 14 at Revel Atlantic City in New Jersey, and the main card airs on NBC Sports Network after online prelims.

I'd say Kyle is quite predicatable, he's a knockout artist. Johnson on the other hand, is very unpredictable, which version of Rumble will show up this time? Will he make weight? Rumble can actually wrestle too, so he has more ways to win.

I agree about Kyle's power though, he almost had Bigfoot beat in that fight.
