Forrest Griffin: Maybe I'll heal, fight again - Mixed Martial Arts News

“I was actually a last minute replacement,” Griffin explained. “Some poor guy, who I won’t name, actually failed his drug test for weed, and so I got his spot. I only had 17 days notice. I had just become a cop, and I’d quit my job being a cop in 2002 to become a professional cage fighter. And after years of being broke, and then a low-level bouncer, I decided to finish college and go back to law enforcement.

“And I had just started, had a new job, things were looking up, I was maybe going to take some grad school classes or something – probably not, but the idea was there. I had the application anyway. I was going to do it. But then I was like, ‘Man, it’s that evil mistress, she’s come back. She’s broke my heart once, but she wants me back.’ So I gave it another shot.

“I’m glad,” Griffin said.”If I didn’t, I would have a lot of regret. Like ‘Man, I could’ve been a big superstar like that Stephan Bonnar if I had only done that show. If they’d given me more than 17 days notice’."

“I’ll start training again, September, August. Maybe if I’m just magically healed and like everything works great, then I’ll have to try [fighting] again. But, I’m not healthy now.”

I hope to see him back in there. He at least needs a fight to go out on his shield imo.

Any idea what he's healing from?
Forest has to have his heart into it to put on a good fight. Wandi is a fight that stands a chance at making a really exciting fight.

I wish he was faster, and could fight Anderson again. He looked more foolish than he deserved, but I think it was 100% because of the gigantic speed disadvantage. Yes, I realize that I don't get to add tools to fighters, but I think that was the biggest case of a fighter looking as bad as he could possibly look because of one flaw in his skill set. It was the striking equivalent of what Chael did to Anderson for the majority of their first fight, only Forrest didn't have a hail Mary at the end.

I would also like to see Bonnar-Griffin one more time. I mean why the hell not.

You know I will give forest this when he fought Silva. He was coming in off an injury and a little layover but even if he was 100% healthy it would've been the same result, just wanted to give Forrest a little credit.

Only way I'm interested in griffin returning to fight is if he fights Bonnar, and they're both high on pcp and meth amphetamine. I'd would however, enjoy his color comentary, read another one of his books, or even just attend a seminar in which he speaks about things that interest me.
