Default Anderson Silva says Georges St. Pierre had a chance to fight him but chose not to

Reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre recently told members of the mixed martial arts (MMA) media that Chris Weidman would defeat Anderson Silva in the main event of the UFC 162 pay-per-view (PPV), which takes place on July 6, 2013 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Not just defeat, but finish, too.

That didn't sit well with "The Spider" who was asked about St. Pierre's comments on today's UFC 162 media conference call (updates and live blog here), In fact, Silva fired right back, insisting that "Rush" had his chance to accept a "super fight" but chose not to.

"St. Pierre had his chance to pronounce himself fighting me and he chose not to do it. [So] that's what he chose to say."

Well Anderson kind of has a point there if GSP really wanted to challenge the GOAT he could have done so

When Silva asks for a fight with Jones instead of discussing much smaller fighters I'll start caring.

You tell that coward, Anderson! I bet GSP just wants to continue fighting the contenders in his weight class because he has respect for his title. Keep hiding behind that belt Georges! The real heroes will be busy calling out guys smaller than them, and getting pissy when anyone says anyone can beat them.

Hate GSP or love him, he's always been straight about this. He's always said that if he moved up to fight Anderson he'd have to remain and 185 because he wouldn't be able to drop the weight afterwards (or at least didn't want to have to). He has never seemed to interested in the matchup and the only time he did, was when there was talk about Anderson dropping to 170 for it.

In Anderson's defense, the clip of GSP saying Weidman will finish him is playing constantly leading up to this fight. That's got to weigh on his nerves.

Are GSP and Weidman boys or was it just a one off question somebody asked GSP?

The thing about GSP is that his reasoning for moving up hasn't changed any. He seems to have a plan in place that he is following step by step. Had GSP swayed back and forth with different reasons for not moving up for the super fight, I might give a little more credit to Anderson's comments. Anderson has a point, but I just don't like the fact that he is challenging a guy in the lighter division instead of challenging in the other direction.

UFC 162’s Anderson Silva unsure if he’ll fulfill 10-fight UFC contract, has other desires like fighting Roy Jones Jr.

    UFC 162

Speaking at today's (June 25, 2013) UFC 162 media conference call, Silva touched on the possibility of not fulfilling his 10-fight deal.

"No, everything is a possibility, but it's really going to come down to my willpower and my desire to still be fighting. I have a lot of other things that I want to do, a lot of other desires, and one of those is fighting Roy Jones, but we're just going to have to see how things work out in the next few fights and how I feel."
