mostly because he hasn't fought in what is rapidly approaching 2 years, and I [personally] have doubts we'll see him fight again. I hope we do, but I fear that he's a footnote in MMA's evolving history.

Cruz is p4p better than Jones, without a doubt...but will he fight again? At what level?

I think it's a great illustration of a double standard that he has to do that in order to get any credit.

But he's better p4p than Jones, by a fucking mile.

All manner of men came to work for the News: everything from wild young Turks who wanted to rip the world in half and start all over again -- to tired, beer-bellied old hacks who wanted nothing more than to live out their days in peace before a bunch of lunatics ripped the world in half.

Fedor. And to be honest, I think GSP's streak is also more impressive, simply because he rarely lost a round. Silva lost rounds to Travis Lutter, Dan Henderson, Chael Sonnen (Chael won 5 out of the 7 rounds they fought, and the judges gave him 10-8 scores for rounds 1 and 3 in the first fight), and he even lost a round against Damian Maia. And I also have Aldo ahead of Jones.

Obviously Fedor at this point. Jones and Aldo could give home a run in the next few years.

For losing streaks I would have to say that Bob Sapp has been on an epic tear. He has lost 11 straight fights with three of them coming by submission to punches. Only one of the 11 fights made it out of the first round. War Bob Sapp.

GSP only has 3 finishes during his streak, though. I don't mind someone getting laid on for a bit if it means they get to end the fight in a devastating way...but that's just me.

I hope this isn't too big, because it's awesome.

And 4 of those 10 wins were against fighters who are now Flyweights.

More than half of them stoppages? One title defense less than Jones [and that's counting the MW's Jones "defended" against] and a better all-around skill set, in a much, much more competitive division. Nonsense.

Is the comparison between Aldo fighting guys who came DOWN from LW to Jones (presumably) moving UP to HW valid?

There's only a 10 pound difference between the two classes, and some of those guys would have probably been fighting in the FW division all along if it had been introduced in the UFC earlier.

It seems to me the difference in size between Aldo and Florian or Edgar doesn't equate to the size difference between Jones and comparable challenges from HW (Cain - former champion / Mir - perennial contender).

I still completely agree with your overall point.
