SEATTLE – Recent rumors that the addition of a new women's division to the UFC was imminent are false, UFC President Dana White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) following Saturday's UFC on FOX 8 event.

White, who has previously said the promotion could eventually add more weight classes for the ladies, said it will be a while before there are opportunities beyond the bantamweight division.

"We're still building up this division and getting people to know who these girls are," he said. "We've got to see how this one works for a couple years before we (add new divisions)."
So far, White said he's happy with the development of the 135-pound class, which formally started in February with an all-female headliner between champ Ronda Rousey and challenger Liz Carmouche at UFC 157.

Carmouche returned on Saturday night and beat UFC newcomer Jessica Andrade via second-round TKO in the first FOX-televised bout at UFC on FOX 8, which took place at Seattle's KeyArena.

"Those two really delivered," White said. "I wasn't crazy about the earlier fight (between Germaine de Randamie and Julie Kedzie), but it's great having that one. Liz really is an animal. She comes out and goes for it."
In December, the women will again take top-billing when Rousey defends her title in a rematch against opposing "The Ultimate Fighter 18" coach Miesha Tate at UFC 168.

But for lighter weight classes, the premier promotion remains Invicta FC, which promotes talent from 95 pounds up to 145 pounds.
There are many paths to freedom....not all are peaceful.

I do believe the next division to be created in the UFC should probably be Women's 125lbs. But I'm glad to hear they have no plans to do so. They need to let their current divisions establish themselves first. Take a bit more time and let the next growth in a division come more naturally instead of further watering down the talent pool. Easy enough to let Invicta do the grassroots heavy lifting.

Its interesting that a few months ago dana was quoted as saying more wmma divisions were inevitable and now hes kind of changing his stance. I know Dana flip flops and lies alot but just found this one particularily interesting since not much has even happened in ufc wmma in the past few months..
