Default New UFC champ Anthony Pettis out two months with sprain, meets Grant on return

Pettis (17-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) will be sidelined for the next seven to eight weeks with a Grade 2 knee sprain, which in medical terms is considered a "moderate" sprain. UFC President Dana White broke the news Tuesday night on ESPN's "SportsCenter," and UFC officials later announced it, as well.

When Pettis is able to return following the rehab for the knee injury – which will not require surgery – he won't be taking a superfight with featherweight champion Jose Aldo. Instead, he'll fight top contender T.J. Grant (21-5 MMA, 8-3 UFC).

As it should be. Grant should get his shot prior to Pettis fighting Aldo since he worked to get in this position. Now after Grant all bets are off as LW is quite the toss up in who would be next.

WOOHOO! Glad to hear Grant is getting his shot and equally glad to hear Pettis isn't badly injured. I worry about his ability to stay healthy for a prolonged period of time; nice that isn't proving to be an issue early.

Who are folks taking in this? I really like Grant and think he's a stud, but I find it hard to pick against Pettis after that last fight.

    This is the right call.
Dana & Joe Silva got it right this time.

Good for Grant... Give the Canadian boy his dues.

But I think Pettis offers Grant more of a threat than Bendo did.

If grant takes this I bet his first defense will be the first time the ufc goes to Atlantic Canada.

That it is... But they have many more varieties than just IPA's.

A beer that is brewed in Nova Scotia in one of the oldest breweries in North America.
