Default White: Uriah Hall said criticism 'lit a fire'

    http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/news...sm-lit-a-fire/

Speaking to the press recently in an interview trascribed by Tom Ngo at 5thround.com, White said that Hall understands, and that the remarks lit a fire

“[I've been] very critical [of Hall]," said White. "He sent me a text and said, ‘I appreciate what you said, it lit a fire under me.’ I said, ‘It better.’

“[We didn't talk beyond that brief text message]. What else do you say to the guy? I care about the kid, I like him. He’s one of the nicest human beings you could ever meet, therein lies the problem. It really is part of the problem. He has no killer instinct, whatsoever.”

White had no explanation for how Hall sent four profession four promising professional fighters to the hospital, without a killer instinct.

“I have no idea!” said White when asked. “And it wasn’t like he had killer instinct on the show, he was catching guys with some good s---. Everybody was saying s--- about Uriah Hall. Everybody was talking about that kid. People were saying, ‘We want to see him versus Anderson Silva.’ That’s how much hype there was behind Uriah Hall.”

After his second consecutive loss, White said he had to think about whther he would rlease Hall from his contract. He apparently thought about it, and now fights Chris Leben on what promises to to be the biggest card in UFC history - December 28 at UFC 168.

Was a big fan of Halls during the show, after the last two fights, not so much. I see a lot of fluff from this guy right now and I would love to see him get his game together. That division could use another superstar

Stuff like this, "I've never been this focused", and "I'm more motivated than ever", have lost all credibility. All it means now is that your last performance wasn't good.

    For Uriah's sake, I hope he's right. For Leben's sake, I hope he's wrong.

If you can't get motivated or pumped up for a fight in the ufc in front of that many people, you have an issue.

I think TUF may have made people think that there is a lot more there than there is. It's not hard to look like an animal against lesser opponents, but real competition changes things. Anybody remember how good Mac Danzig looked on TUF?

What a privilege he at least gets to fight on the yearly "biggest card in UFC history" for what may be his last fight.

I hope this isn't too big, because it's awesome.

I think if Hall gets back to using that Jab and setting up his shots, he'll do just fine. Having his hands down and trying to be cute and counter is what lost him those 2 fights. The fight he won to go to the finals in TUF was a perfect example of how a good Jab can scramble a wrestler, he rediscovers that punch and even a brawler is gonna have a hard time reaching his chin without getting countered. He has good footwork but without a jab behind it he's just running with his hands down. That's how Wiedman beat him. I think those 2 KO's in TUF hurt him more than helped in some ways. We'll see, I'd hate to see all that talent wasted because he can't get his head right......

"I don't call the fighting in my films 'violent', I call it 'action'. An action film borders between fantasy and reality. If I were to be completely realistic in my films, you would call me a violent, bloody man. I would simply destroy my opponent by tearing his guts out. I wouldn't do it so artistically." ~Bruce Lee

No fight at all is more entertaining than watching Yushin. Only time he was entertaining was when he was getting tooled by Anderson.
