Default Fabio Maldonado calls out Chael Sonnen, James Te Huna after UFC Fight Night 29

Although a knee injury hampered his training for a fight against Joey Beltran at UFC Fight Night 29, Fabio Maldonado was in good spirits following a split call.

Good enough spirits, that is, to make a few requests about his next bout. And Maldonado thought none other than Chael Sonnen would make a good opponent for his next UFC appearance.

Or, if Sonnen was unavailable, Australian striker James Te-Huna.

"Of course, it's serious," said Maldonado when asked about inklings of his preference on social media. "I would love to fight Chael Sonnen. I would like to fight James Te Huna. James is a great striker, and Chael, a lot of people think he would kill my game, that he would tie me up. But I'm very well-trained.

"It's hard for you to see my jiu-jitsu, but I can turn it around. I would do well against James, as well."

I think Fabio is an amazing striker, he was having his way with Beltran when they weren't pressed against the cage, which I see as his biggest flaw, he needs better fight awareness, he was ripping body shots on Joey in the clinch but it still looked like Beltran was winning, I'm glad swinging wildly and missing most of your punches didnt sway the judges.

Chael grinds him out, but Fabio vs. James would be amazing to watch.

No shame in calling out Chael, he'd make Fabio a helluva lot of money.

Goddamn does he take waaaaaay too many punches to the head though.

That he does. He can sure absorb them though.

He also has to lose the Anderson Silva taunting impression. Was not impressed by that.

This is my major concern looking forward, when studying TBI and pugilistic dementia, the amount of punishment taken is a big issue. Maldonado's one of those fighters who I'm scared for in about 15 years, maybe sooner.

Chael would grind him down for a 30-26 or 30-25 performance. Wouldn't even be close.

Fabio not only lost his fight with Beltran, I see him getting owned by Chael or Te-Huna. He's an exciting fighter but I didn't really enjoy his performance last night and he hasn't earned this big of a step up.

I would too, but Dana was ripping Thiago last night, so who knows?

I was thinking Diabate would be a sick fight.

    Chael would beat him easily.

Maldonado vs Shogun would be very nice though.
Not only brazilians can do this stuff
