  1. Default Fabricio Werdum 'probably' up next for Cain vs JDS III winner

Tonight at UFC 166, two of the very best Heavyweights in mixed martial arts faced off in the main event for their rubber match. Current and undisputed champion Cain Velasquez and former champion Junior dos Santos had met twice before with each man taking a dominant victory. In their third bout, Cain once again proved to be the superior fighter with a 5th round TKO victory over a completely exhausted JDS.

With Cain 2 fights up in the series, UFC commentator Joe Rogan asked the promotion's president Dana White what was up next for the champion and White immediately responded:

We probably do Werdum. Werdum is probably next. That makes the most sense.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu specialist Fabricio Werdum has been on a tear since coming to the UFC in last year. In his most recent bout he defeated rival TUF Brazil 2 coach Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira by armbar at UFC on Fuel TV 10. He's undefeated since returning to the promotion and, aside from Cain's teammate and fellow UFC 166 winner Daniel Cormier, the most qualified to compete for the heavyweight strap.

Can't wait to see werdum get mauled by Cain. If he got lucky, he'd still get ktfo by jds

Werdum has improved a lot and let's not count him out, we all thought that Fedor would kill him and we all saw what happened.
I am not saying that for sure he will sub Cain, but we have seen tons of upsets in MMA so anything can happen, Werdum is not some can.

Being said that, Cain is obviously the huge favorite to win this.
Not only brazilians can do this stuff

so true. you can never count out werdum in any fight. If you do he will take advantage. werdum is strong and has decent striking. he will count on velasquez to take him down and will train for that.

I agree with pasha and ffr. I expect Cain to maul him but fabricio is legit. Can't wait to see if he pulls guard.

Only chance I give Werdum is a sub. But Cain will most likely press him against the cage to wear him down, instead of take him down. I still don't think his striking is that much 'improved' like u guys say. Russow, Nelson, and old Nog are not great strikers. In a rematch against jds I think he pulls the overeem gameplan of flopping on his back begging for jds to jump in his guard.

Cain will most likely reserve the tds for when Werdum is gassed, if he even uses em more than once or twice just to caution werdum of the td.

Yeah, who ever brought up the Fedor fluke win, LOL.

Werdum is in for a long or short night depending on if Cain lands something hard early. I just don't think werdum looks like a killer. yes he sub'd Big Nog and Fedor. He has an impressive resume, but seeing how he layed a big goose egg against Overreem still makes me suspicious of his abilities. I would have liked to see him take out more top UFC fighters before getting the shot, maybe even fight DC before. But hey if he's next than he's next. Good luck Mr. Werdum, you're gonna need it....
