Default Jose Aldo vs. Ricardo Lamas, Dominick Cruz vs. Renan Barao set for UFC 169

February's UFC 169 event has not one, but two headlining contests as UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo meets top contender Ricardo Lamas and UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz makes his long-awaited return to the octagon for a unification bout with interim title holder Renan Barao.

Newsday first reported the bookings, and UFC officials have since confirmed the plans.

UFC 169 takes place Feb. 1 at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. The UFC's annual Super Bowl weekend show typically is in Las Vegas, but this year heads to New Jersey, which hosts the NFL's title game the next day at MetLife Stadium in nearby East Rutherford.

2 title fights super bowl weekend. Im going against the grain and sticking with Cruz over Barao but we'll see how much ring rust Cruz has after being on the shelf for the better part of 2 years.

    Cruz vs Barao!! Finally!!!!

Because of the ring rust, I think Barao beats Cruz
Not only brazilians can do this stuff

You won't be saying that in mid January.

Hope these fights stay together, should be a great card.

Two long awaited fights, especially Cruz/Barao!!!!

I wish Cruz was in top shape for this fight though. He may lose.

Love it. This is wonderful for Barao and Aldo to be peaking at the same time! These are two guys I would rather not have peak at the same time in training camp if I were fighting one of them. I hope that being in the same city as the super bowl there is not a waning of potential buyers for ppv and seats.

HOSS-Bork, you should spend more time brushing up on your MMA history, and less time complementing guys on how young their penises taste.

Really surprised they are headlining this card with both of the lower weight classes title fights. The champs in these divisions have brought in some pretty weak ppv numbers when they are the main event.
