Default If fights were decided by DAMAGE! *graphic*

Think back as far as you can and name fights that would have been awarded differently had damage alone decided the victor. Pictures/gifs encouraged! I put graphic on the title because I am hoping to see some good ones in here so don't let me down!

One that instantly comes to mind is Sanchez/Kampmann. Kampmann beat Diego's face as if he was trying to perform reconstructive surgery with his fists and knees; it looked like Diego was beaten with a blunt object after that fight was over. That fight was remarkably gruesome and everyone sort of had that "oh, shit" vibe to them because of it.

Those two pictures are worth a thousand words. Diego looks like he's casually expressing his gratitude for the fight they put on while Kampmann looks like he's concerned and reassuring himself that this is perfectly legal and he's not going to jail for what he did to Diego's face. Fucking hilarious.

    Kampmann wins on damage.

meh...Kampmann won that fight on points as well. When people talk about robberies, THAT was a robbery. Diego got outstruck, outgrappled, outpointed, knocked down. And it wasn't even the NSAC that screwed it up.

Damage is a weak, stupid way to score fights. You have guys like Fedor who cut easily, but were rarely in any trouble. Part of the greatness of MMA is being able to witness the size of the "fight in the dog" and have guys battle back from damage.

When you look at a fight like last night...where Georges took the bulk of the damage early, but still came back to fight...it's pretty weak. You could just as easily play Stockton Rules and say whoever was winning the last round when the bell is rung should win.

The state of scoring and the 10pt-must system is flawed, but looking at damage is only going to make it worse.

The difference is when looking at the stats gsp was outstruck by Hendricks & only had one more takedown than Hendricks, according to fight metric.
Hendricks did all he could as well as dealing more damage.

What do you mean hendricks did all he could? He even said he was throwing punches at 70%. Lol he CLEARLY could have done more. The only person Hendricks should be mad at right now is Hendricks.

Hendricks by far landed the more significant strikes...I personally gave him 4 rounds.

You can of course make a case for GSP but in my opinion Hendricks had 2 clear rounds as opposed to 1 for GSP. Then give both guys one of the toss up rounds and it's still 3-2. Probably need to watch this one again....seemed like GSP was reacting so much more to the strikes though, as well as taking more damage. Hendricks never had the "oh shit" look that GSP had...

I hope this isn't too big, because it's awesome.

Indeed but I will provide that GSP looked to be in more trouble than Hendricks was the whole fight.

Hendricks even with 70% still put GSP in the position to seem worried while Hendricks seemed collected & composed the whole fight. Someone else pointed out that the beginning of round five Hendricks was bobbing around while GSP legitimately looked concerned.

Even GSP's coaches thought Georges lost.
