Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Gilbert Melendez? ‘The Eagle’ calls for ‘El Nino’

The undefeated (21-0, 5-0 UFC) Russian took to his Instagram account to lobby for a potential 155-pound scrap against former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez. In his own creative way (which you can see here).

I like this fight, I want this fight, let's go Gilbert -- let's do it

If I were Khabib, I'd be looking to fight Diaz instead. Better matchup for his skillset.

Khabib's standup still gives me pause while going up against top competition. He was giving Healy a shitload of open looks standing and that was against somebody not known for his standup acumen, I think this is too big of a step up from a technical standpoint and given Gil's cardiocrushing pace and Khabib's tendency to gas in the third round, I'm leaning towards Gil.
