Thread: UFC 168 bonuses

  1. Default UFC 168 bonuses

    http://mmajunkie.com/2013/12/ufc-168...ey-doubles-up/

Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate and Travis Browne each earned $75,000 bonuses for their performances at Saturday’s UFC 168 event, and Rousey doubled up with another $75,000.

Rousey earned the “Submission of the Night,” Browne won “Knockout of the Night” and Rousey and Tate picked up “Fight of the Night” honors. The double bonus gave Rousey a total of $150,000 in bonus money.

UFC President Dana White announced the winners at the night’s post-event news conference, which MMAjunkie attended. The post-fight bonus awards typically are $50,000 – but White has said in the past he reserves the right to up them for special occasions. With a live gate reported by White at $6.2 million on Saturday, UFC 168 appears to be one of those.

UFC 168 took place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and MMAjunkie.

Rousey (8-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and Tate (13-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) went back and forth, but ultimate it was Rousey’s signature move that put an end to Tate’s night. But it wasn’t before Tate did something no one else before her had done – she got to the second round against the UFC women’s bantamweight champ. Then she got to the third. But once there, after fending off several previous armbar attempts from Rousey, Tate finally had to succumb.

Browne (16-1-1 MMA, 7-1-1 UFC) needed only one minute to shut down former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett (33-7 MMA, 5-2 UFC). With Barnett dropping down for a takedown, Browne started raining down elbows to his left temple. It only took a couple for Browne to be out, and a couple more were enough for referee Yves Lavigne to step in to stop things.

Anyone else think William Macario VS Bobby Voelker deserved FOTN???
I know it was a Unanimous 30-27 fight. But that was some entertaining shit.

As I said in the discussion thread, I think Jim should have gotten SOTN.

Yeah she definitely didn't deserve the SOTN award imo. Browne was impressive.

Agreed such bullshit. That fight and Siyar vs Doomsday were both better than the girls fight. I also like Jim Miller's submission way better than Rousey's.

Didn't Tate say she would jump off a bridge or something if she got arm barred again? lol

I really feel like Jim Miller deserved the SOTN bonus.

Are you suggesting that she do it?

I'm for non headliners get the OTN bonus's as there already paid well. Unless there isn't one of them in the lower fights. so FOTN shouldn't happen for a main event. SOTN She's won every fight 1st rd armbar her opponnets know thats whats shes going to do, and haven't stopped her. Only thing it took the 3rd rd to get it this time still pretty awsome.

It's just my opinion, but I liked miller's a lot more. It was much smoother and he had a very slick set up. It is impressive that Ronda got another armbar win, but her armbar was not nearly as nice in my eyes. She didn't even have her leg over Misha's face. Misha just kind of got worn down from all the previous submission attempts and the horrible positions she had to fight out of. Miller's was pure technique, while Rondas was more like a bulldog. Not that those kind of submissions aren't fun to watch, I just personally enjoyed miller's more. I was in more of an awe from his.

I agree under normal circumstances Jim would of got it. I compare her armbar to something like Babe Ruths homerun were he pointed at the wall than hit it there. It wasn't that Babe hit a homerun, but that he called it before hand. Rousey called a armbar win only thing it was lacking was a 1st rd finish. Yes others have called there finish correctly but not every one of there fights. That is what I concider amazing not Rousey the person
