    Default Pro Wrestling Thread

I figured this was long over due. We have enough fans on here, so lets kick it off with this tidbit...

There is huge breaking news in the WWE, as it has been reported by various outlets that CM Punk has quit the organization for real.

The news comes after an inconspicuous absence from Raw this past Monday (Jan. 27), and it seems this is not a work from Punk and the WWE. Per PWMania.com (via Wrestling Observer, ProWrestling.net and PWInsider), this appears to be a legitimate decision from Punk, after he reportedly told Vince McMahon he was "going home":

Word has come out that CM Punk has left WWE, according to several sources.

CM Punk reportedly told Vince McMahon personally at Monday’s Raw that he was going home, and then got on a plane for Chicago. WWE.com has since removed Punk from all upcoming live events and house shows over the next few weeks including Monday Night Raw.
If Punk has left the company, then it leaves a huge hole in the plans for WrestleMania 30. It also means the company is without one of their biggest draws, as Punk is a guy who can always get the crowd going.

There will be doubt, however, as to whether this is a serious storyline emerging from the company. There is no word on the official WWE site over Punk's decision to quit yet—but memories of a 2011 storyline he was involved with are immediately coming to the surface.

Punk told the WWE he was leaving with the WWE Championship after his contract expired at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, and he returned a few weeks later with the belt—proving it all to be a work.

PWMania.com also goes on to report that the plans for Triple H vs. CM Punk look to be shelved—adding further weight to the suggestion Punk is indeed gone:

As PWMania.com reported, Punk was scheduled to face Triple H at WrestleMania 30, but as seen on Monday’s Raw, early signs may have been shown that Triple H will be facing Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania instead.
The report also continues to state the possible driving reasons behind Punk's decision to pack up and head home—with the feeling that part-time wrestlers are getting pushed instead of men who work 365 days a year with the company:

In the past, Punk had been very vocal about “part-time” wrestlers returning to WWE and getting pushed ahead of guys who are there on a nightly basis, and that may be a reason for him being upset.
Given how Punk's contract legitimately expires with the WWE this coming July, perhaps this could be the end of the road for him and the organization. It would be a crying shame if it did happen—he is still one of the biggest stars in the company, without a doubt.

Where does the company go without a guy of the stature of CM Punk? The likes of Brock Lesnar, Batista and The Undertaker could well be away from the company again following the conclusion of WrestleMania 30, which would still leave a gaping hole in the roster.

Wrestling fans will hope this is simply a work to try and create some tension and hype for the big event in April. However, at this moment in time, it looks to be no work.
    Work? For reals?

WWE superstar CM Punk is QUITTING the organization, TMZ Sports has learned ... and sources tell us it's all because he's PISSED over the way the company wants to use him at "WrestleMania."

Sources close to the situation tell TMZ Sports ... Punk was livid when he learned officials scripted Batista to win the Royal Rumble ... because he feels Batista isn't in great wrestling shape and shouldn't be featured in the title match at the upcoming WrestleMania (the biggest event of the year).

We're told Punk feels he earned the right to be in the main event at WrestleMania -- because he's been wrestling tirelessly over the past year from house shows to overseas events. Punk was angry when he found out he'd be wrestling Triple H at WrestleMania instead of squaring off in the title match.

Sources say ... Punk -- whose contract is up in July -- made the decision to leave WWE after "Monday Night Raw" -- and we're told that right now, he's very serious about his decision and has no plans to return.

Haven't really followed wrestling in a long time.. vaguely familiar with the top guys now a days but that's about it. Used to love it as kid in the 80's grew and got back into in the 90's a bit when the the whole WCW v WWE wars were going on.

That aside came across this on the net the other day seems a legend from the past may have been getting away with murder for quite some time now....

I have not watched wrestling in years but I tend to read some of the websites from time to time just to see if anything interest me (like the Rock or Stone Cold coming back). If I had to guess here, seeing as how WWF and the other promotion did similar champ leaves org already with CM Punk being the WWF champ I would say this is all story line. Not intentional story line but something like Punk got legitimately hurt in a match, wrestled through it then found out it was way more serious than he thought.

Instead of doing the whole announce the injury thats been done time and time again or having someone take him out they just have him disappear and leak stories to the tabloids. WWF goes on ignoring him completely until all of the sudden when no one expects it (once he has healed) out comes CM Punk, crowd goes crazy and they can have him going after anyone for any reason.

I'm gonna give them till after WM before I buy it. Figure that'll give them enough time to work any bugs out. But glad to know it kicks ass.

Yeah, it's got some crazy bugs because they're obvious overloaded and crashing right now due to the first free week but it's really well done given that they've worked with MLBTV, so I think it should be tons of fun, especially once they start adding a lot of the more older content.
