UFC 172: Luke Rockhold vs. Tim Boetsch on tap for April 26 in Baltimore

Rockhold looks to be stuck in a holding pattern with his first choice, Michael Bisping, busy with Tim Kennedy.

Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold looks to notch his second straight win under the ZUFFA banner when he takes on 185-pound slugger Tim Boetsch at the upcoming UFC 172 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which takes place inside Maryland's Baltimore Arena on April 26, 2014.

UFC brought word of the upcoming bout earlier today.

Not the fight I would have said I'd want to see, though a good fight for both guys to ground themselves into the mix. I see Rockhold taking this against a tough Boetsch.

I'm no longer questioning Rockhold chin or ability to take damage after seeing Belfort KO everyone not named A. Silva.

Luke should be much faster than Tim and use his quickness to stop him.

BUT, if Tim comes in healthy and not sluggish due to his massive cut, he has the ability to Hulk Smash Luke.

Just what I was thinking. I like the barbarian but I think he will be too slow for luke and he will either get tkoed while chasing him or get decisioned.

I'll take Rockhold over Boetsch any day. He's better in all areas IMO.

Shitty matchup for Rockhold. Boetsch is a lateral move from Philippou at best, a guy he just smashed in the first round. He would have been better off waiting for the results of the next Fight Night when Carmont, Mousasi, Jacare and Machida fight.
