Honestly I think he would rather face Cain because if he lost to someone a weightclass above him it would not look nearly as bad as someone who is a weight class below.

I would love to see him fight Cain, if he thinks Goose humbled him, Cain would make him rethink his career

Run a youtube search on interviews, Wediman has much more views, only velasquez one i found over 100k was sport science and that doesn't have as much to do with the popularity of the participant as much as the study itself
Not to mention Weidman did better numbers in PPV than Jones did in 2013. Jon had to take a vanity fight with Sonnen just so he can be part of the cash cow that Sonnen is known to bring in with his hype. I'm not saying Weidman is the sole reason for generating the 1M mark of the 168's PPV numbers, but the man was in the spotlight a lot, and def has a big name.

Also, Weidman dethroned the number 1 P4P fighter and beat him again in a rematch, which is a bigger accomplishment than Jones has done in the last 3 fights (squeaking out a tough fought decision against Goose, and beating 2 MW prior to that). Jones saying that Chris needs to beat other worlds champs to prove himself before he should be allowed to fight him is an idiotic statement in itself. Gonna be hard for Chris to beat "other world champs" when the previous champ was so dominant, that he didnt let anybody else hold that MW title. Unless Jones means guys like Vitor (who is hardly considered a UFC LHW champ in most peoples' eyes), or Chael Sonnen (delusional UFC and WEC champ). Machida is the only former champ at MW right now, and both Jacare and Rockhold were SF champs.

IMO, Jones is bitter towards Weidman beating his "idol". He doesn't like the idea of giving Weidman any kudos for beating Silva, which is why he labels those wins as "flukes". Given that Weidman is a great wrestler, with good BJJ skills under Matt Serra and Renzo, and his striking getting better with each fight, he is a solid threat to beat Jones and IMO, Jones understands all this and doesn't want to be part of a "superfight" in which he may lose to a lower division fighter.

long island wrestling is also big rivals with up state new york in high school wrestling. Jones was a controversial state champ(won on a bullshit fleeing the mat call) coming from up state, weidman from long island at the same time.

1st, people are still calling Chael a MW?? 2nd, how is jones saying Weidman isnt ready to fight him an idiotic statement? A tko and leg break do not put you anywhere near a jon jones / gsp / jose aldo / shit even AS level prior to his loss to weidman. Those guys have done it all in their weight classes, Weidman has just begun his journey to their level - if he can get to their level.

this talk of weidman beating jones is foolish on your part.

I the context of everyone being the same size, aka skill based, aka no 458 inch reach, both guys are far beyond Bones. That isn't a knock on him, good for him for being able to utilize his god given body measurements, but it's outrageous to think that they don't benefit him more than almost any other skill that he possesses. All that being said, pound for pound rankings are dumb.

Chael WAS a MW when took the fight with Jones.

Before Jones, Chael fought for the MW championship. His fight with Jones was his return to LHW.

    Faulty logic.

When Jones and Chael agreed to the fight, Sonnen was a MW and had not fought at LHW in like 8 years. Therefore, any talk of Chael Sonnen's weight class between 2005 and his fight with Jones in 2013, should refer to him as a MW fighter.

But hey, whatever floats your boat.

No, just because iot was Chael's first fight at LHW doesn't mean he should be considered a MW for that fight. He made the move to permantly go up a weight class. It is not as if he just went up to LHW for a fight or 2 and then went right back to MW the way Silva did.
