Bill Gates is a good example of the former. So many people hated him because he was the head of the evil, greedy Microsoft corporation, but the guy has done a lot of good since leaving the company. He is one of the most impactful philanthropists today. He has donated millions of computers to the public school system. Him and his wife are involved in a lot of different charities. He has even pledged to donate 90% of his fortune to charities.

Money talks take away events from an athletic commission and they don't have income which means they get downsized which means some of those making decisions don't have a job anymore.

Obviously Zuffa would never pull events from Nevada, but the point is they have the ability to influence the NSAC quite easily with the threat of doing so.
I don't think the UFC has a big influence on NSAC at all. They know the UFC won't back out of Nevada and the UFC isn't the only way athletic commissions make money. Athletic commissions are far more profitable on boxing events compared to UFC events. Boxing will never leave Vegas. NSAC existed and was profitable before the UFC and it will continue to be without the UFC.
