ot long after news broke earlier today (March 21, 2014) that Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) had parted ways with lightweight striker Melvin Guillard (details), another longtime veteran has received his walking papers.
"The Pride of El Salvador" (25-12) probably saw this one coming. After jumping out to a 3-0 start in his UFC return back in 2011, the former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) standout went just 1-4 and is currently riding a three-fight losing streak.
His manager, Mitch Mayberger, talks to MMA Fighting:
"I will be feeling out offers and discussing with Ivan and his head coach Firas Zahabi and doing whatever works best for him. He is a gem of a human being and been a pleasure to work with so I will always be by his side to help accomplish any goals he has. Love the guy."
