well, on facebook he does mention how 2014s going to be a great year and hopes to return soon. so, I'm assuming retirements not on his radar right now. wouldn't mind seeing him fight against rogerio nogeira in brazil later this year.

Ah, more blind bias from the Jones nutthuggers. It never gets old. For the record, (and this is coming from someone who isn't a Machida fan) Lyoto Machida gave Jones more trouble than anyone up to that point. Case in point...

I also believe in a rematch Machida could put Jones away.

Yup he definitely didn't rock jones.

Jones is clearly the better striker lol.

No Jones is just clearly the "bigger"guy. Gus showed how much skill our so called "p4p kingpin" has when he fights ppl his height. Now hes whining about the Gus rematch like he did about the Machida rematch. But he'll take on any mw at the drop of a dime.

No, that wasn't forgotten, that was the end of the fight and a pretty good submission but we're talking about striking. Not just one good combo though...

Jones wanted nothing to do with Machida's stand up... or Gustaffson's for that matter.

To claim Machida only caught Jones with only one combo is bullshit.

Jon had to hold his arm all the way out to 'big brother' Machida in an attempt to neutralize Machida's striking (r1). Reach was a great part of that neutralization and Jones game plan against Machida.

Machida out struck Jones in volume and accuracy in their fight.

Jones did not take control of the fight until past midway though the second round when he landed the take down and cut Machida open with his elbows.

If Machida was Jones' size and had his reach, I think Machida takes it. But at the end of the day, he does not.

I think Jones' striking isn't as good as Machida's, but it doesn't have to be when he has a foot reach advantage.

Machida is swinging at air here. I also think Sean Sherk has good striking, but when his arms are too short to reach his opponent, advantage in striking skills is a moot point.

Machida landed a couple good flurries in the first but nothing of note in the second round. Jones was landing leg kicks the entire second round. Jon was able to take down Machida because he rocked him with a right.
