There aren't any world class strikers in MMA?

Nope. And there's no way that MMA striking is a different art because of how the techniques allowed in MMA call for adjustment. Nope. Nope. Nope. MMA striking is inferior. Always.

    1. On this issue of Jones being dirty, oblique quicks are perfectly legal, no problem with that, but the eye pokes are really dirty and can completely change a fight.

    2. Jones skilled? Yes, definitely, but his massive reach advantage gives him so much extra time to react to his opponent. If he had a 74 inch reach, would we have ever heard of him? Completely doubt it.

Id still like to know where the Jones fanclub would stand on the open handed pawing to the face if it was Jon getting poked in the eye as often as he pokes his opponents.

And if John Holmes hadn't been 13 inches we wouldn't know his name either, but he was... Some people are just lucky, and skilled enough to make it work for themselves...

13 inches? That is a pretty short reach, what weight division did he fight in?

This is like asking if Nazi's rode dinosaurs, would they have beat the allies. The entire complexion of the war would have changed.

There is a lot of disadvantages from having a long reach. It is harder to generate power than being stalky. When you miss with a punch you leave a bigger opening because you have to retract your arms further. It is harder to gain hand eye coordination as well.

If Jones had a regular reach his striking would probably be more fluid and powerful. His arsenal of techniques that he implements would be a lot different as well. A lot of the holes in his striking probably wouldn't be there. We can speculate but we would have no idea what his striking would like or how effective it would be with a average reach just like we have no idea what Hendo's striking would look like average power. Hendo wouldn't be loading up looking for the H bomb everytime if had Bispings power.

Outside of his reach and striking we have seen a lot of positives. He is very explosive. He has shown he follows game plans well. He has show a lot of heart. When he was down in the Gus fight he dug deep and stole the fight. He works hard and has good conditioning. He also has a good chin.

If a large majority of NBA players were a few inches shorter we would not have heard of them either.
