Thiago Silva has an opponent for his first fight after his arrest.

Fight Time Promotions owner Howard Davis Jr. informed MMAFighting.com on Tuesday that UFC veteran Thiago Silva will headline the Fight Time 20 card against Bellator veteran Mike Hayes.

Fight Time 20 takes place at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on Aug. 29.

Yeah that's ridiculous. I thought he was being held because he was considered a flight risk.

I'm totally surprised he is not in prison.
I watched his court appearance where they were trying to hit him with all those different charges, but I haven't seen anymore on his story since. Were charges dropped???

He's out on a 25K bond. I remember reading something about his estranged wife withdrawing her original complaints/petitions.

...still have more respect for him than I do sonnen...inasmuch as I can be said to "respect" either of them.

I think it's out of whack that a money laundering doper is somehow worse than the serious domestic violence charges over Thiago.

I'm not condoning either one, or supporting either one, by any means. Given the circumstances, Thiago's actual crime is far more reprehensible, obviously. But Thiago's was a crime was committed in a moment of unreasoning passion, where sonnen's was cold and calculated. When confronted with social mores and laws, Thiago submitted to them, sonnen's response was to lie even more.

Both individuals are reprehensible. Thiago's actual crime was certainly and obviously worse than any individual action sonnen committed. But sonnen--despite being given the incredible gifts of a stable environment to grow up in, relative wealth and access to a great education, continues to make conscious choices that are utterly lacking in ethics.

I do not feel that either of them should be affiliated with MMA or combat sports in general.
