The end result was several usernames I couldn't use because a confirm email never got generated (even worse, the forum teases me by offering to send me a password and never doing it).

While this is probably the only post I'll make as an unregistered poster (so probably the only post I'll ever make on the forum altogether) because it feels like being a dude who drives through a neighborhood yelling some shit out the window as opposed to someone moving into the neighborhood, maybe for some people the limited access could keep them around until something forces admins to switch to registration software that works.

    ------

All that said, since I'm yelling out the window anyway:

Carano doesn't deserve a shot, but there's really no one who does. Yeah, Zingano, but I'm with the camp that says she deserves a warmup.

Carano doesn't have a legacy to protect. She was in the right place at the right time to become the face of women's MMA. It was a perfect storm of MMA breaking into the mainstream consciousness, her being the American Gladiator who could actually fight and her not being a dog. Since she's not a great actress and she's not Hollywood hot, her acting career is pretty much over. There are 2 possible results from the fight: she gets paid probably as much as she's made in the last couple of years of acting in a loss (and if she's quick, no bones broken) or by some crazy fluke she wins and she's suddenly a hot commodity in Hollywood again for a handful of years.

Whether the fight is a nice payday to punctuate the end of 2 careers as she rides off into the "roll with a real MMA fighter" circuit sunset or a defibrillation of an acting career that's about to end in a long sigh, it's good for her. It's a borderline gimme fight for the torch of women's MMA, so it's good for Ronda. Lots of people will watch it, so it's good for the UFC. Really the fight is good for everyone but people who want to see Holm fed to the wolves too soon (her assessment of facing Rousey immediately, not mine).
Didn't mean to offend man. We have been overwhelmed with spam lately. I've had guys named antoniolips telling me how easy it is to have sex with a caricature of my neighbor because buying cheap new nikes as the fourth of July causes gas.

Good post good points. Riv, SJ, boss man. Somebody hook this fella up with an account.

I wasn't offended, Assassin. I was just pointing out that some of us (surely I'm not alone) have been trying for years to get access to the forum and this is the first opportunity I can recall.

If any helpful mod gets struck by an accommodating mood, there's already an account under user: sam12six just waiting for me. There's a handy link that offers to send me a pass that then lies and says it did. I've had this occur on a couple of forums and it seemed to be a relatively simple fix, just without access it's difficult to ask for that fix.

Also, could you go into more detail about the cheap nikes? I've got this caricature of my next door neighbor and that big-ass nose is driving me nuts. I gotta get with that cartoon...

That's crazy. I remember there being a thread a while back about how there hadn't been a new member in months. I thought it was because the site was.dead and only a few people even visited. I didn't know the site was so abandoned by management that people actually couldn't join. On the plus side I'm sure the new owner or owners are aware of the issue and will get it fixed.

We have a facebook group too fellas. Sorry to hear about your troubles trying to join the board, that kinda irritates me seeing as how we didnt have new members for a long time and alot of us did think it was due to the lack of traffic to the site. Hope you all will register and stick around as the site is under new management now and run by people that are competent

I'll admit some reluctance to sign up on facebook to discuss difficulties signing up for the forum. I don't know if my issue is unique, but here's how things have worked for me:

Fill in all the info to register. System states a successful registration and that a confirmation email has been sent. Confirmation email never appears. Returning to the forum and trying to login shows that the username is definitely in the system, but without having confirmed, there's no way to access it. Trying the link that sends you a pass if you've forgotten yours likewise returns a message that the login credentials have been sent. This also never appears (and I swear if you listen really close, you can hear a WAV file play that says, "Sucker..." - not really, but it does feel that way).

When this has happened on a couple of other forums, the solution was for someone with the clout to manually generate the password email (I don't know if it's a force send within the software or if they're just cut'n'pasting the information and emailing manually). I don't see how anyone has been able to register because I've tried my home email address from my ISP, a yahoo email, a google email and an email from a website I had registered - all on different mail servers, so it's not like there's just a disconnect between the forum's email bot and my ISP's mail server. I've tried at various times (though not recently) to contact site admin and see if someone would fix things and just never heard anything.

Anyway, like I said, if anyone who's able would be interested in getting the login credentials to my inbox, I'd be eternally grateful. If not, maybe someone who's able should delete the username sam12six because I can testify that sam's not using it as things stand.

most likely the answer is yes, but have you verified that its not showing up in a spam folder or something?
