Default BREAKING: Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier postponed till January 3rd

all i have, saw it on twitter. Looking for more info

Jones out. Fight postponed. Assuming Goose has to fight again when he gets back now.

    EDIT:

This PPV just generated that much more $$$ for the UFC with a few extra months of promo.

move one's bowels to a chicken coop. Kill chickens and pick up feathers. They blow the whistle on for 10 ea on forums. Also bury the bones you find.

    Jones is scared of posts.

LOL. Cormier's like Brock. With his knee at 50% he can do a back flip. Just imagine how he could flip with a healthy knee.

I KNOW that guys train hard for fights.
And freak accidents can happen regardless of how careful you are.

But!... If a guy has a TITLE fight coming up... isn't part of the job to make sure you actually make it to the fight?
By making sure you are training smart?
This is my thinking on the subject. It'd probably be hugely unpopular, but here's how I think they should handle things:

A champ signs the contract to fight.
If he can't make the fight, he forfeits and the challenger fights the next available guy in line to determine the new champ.
Should he straighten things out, the now former champ can get in the back of the line.
The bottom line IMO is that once you agree to a fight, not showing up for that fight means you forfeit.

The only semi-legitimate complaint about what I just said is that one could imagine that some champs might endanger their careers by fighting when they really aren't healthy enough to do so. I don't personally see that as a big deal because if the challenger is forced to pull out, what I outlined is pretty much what happens to him (aside from the forfeit) so if that complaint is valid, there's probably already lots of people challenging for belts when badly injured.

Interim titles are bullshit. No one thinks of it as an actual title so it serves zero purpose.

    Shitty deal.

Even more shitty for the UFC to lose all the hype created by the fight and interviews.

How bad did Jones hurt his ankle?

Still not enough time for DC to get his knee fixed I would assume.
And if you want beef, then bring the ruckus

no word on the injury to jones in terms of severity. Happened earlier in the week according to the article.

"It's very disappointing," Cormier told MMAFighting.com. "I started to train very hard. It's a little discouraging, but now I have time to get completely healthy. I don't know how hurt Jon is but we have to remember that I took this fight with a pre-existing injury. I could have fought through it, I just wish he would have done the same."

Torn meniscus (same as Goose) and sprained ankle. Lorenzo has already told DC that Goose wont leapfrog him and he still gets Jones next.

    You think so?

UFC PPV buys usually not strong after few days of New Years.

UFC 108... Jan 2nd 2010, Evans vs Thiago Silva ....300k buys

    UFC 125.. Jan 1st 2011, Edgar vs Maynard ... 270k buys

While I think this fight will receive much better publicity, I still don't see either as a PPV draw. People might forget about the fight with their New Years hangover. IMO, the fight doesn't do more than 550k, regardless of when it happens, which isn't a great number as both guys are talented fighters, who are proving they can hype a fight (whether you like that WWE-esque type of thing or not).
