The Sylvia thing is a great example, you only care if the fighter your bashing is a fighter that you have interest in.
My point you wouldn't have cared if Sylvia left, so that means contracts agreements only matter when its a fighter you think owns you something cause your a fan.

Brock Lesner broke his contract with WWE.. so what?, thats what I meant by contracts are broken all the time, but you don't seemed capable of understanding that.

I still love this place.

I think the Mods do a spectacular job when it needs done and sort of "let it go" once in a while like a good MMA ref when some things need hashed out.

I like most of the members.

I like the rep system.

I like the Politics and Religion forum.

The thing is, some people say the older guys have elitist attitudes and such or that some of the old dogs only speak to each other etc. That's fine. Get out there, get your name known, and become a contributing member. Not 2 days ago, I read a post where someone bashed Warchief for posting too many articles. Are you kidding? THE SITE IS MMANEWS. If you don't care, why the hell did you read the post, read the responses, then post in it so that it stayed at the top of the forum???

I think the place has grown and we have had some pains here and there. Great. The sport has grown also. It's had some pains as well. As long as there is good conversation, respect, and actual debate here, I'll be playing along.

This forum is great. I have been a member for a while, but as you can see I don't have a lot of posts. This is due to three things.

1. My job...

2. Back when I first joined, I would post here and there, and the "Gods" that had infinite rep would just talk to each other, and completetly ignore all other posters. So basically you are just posting for......yourself.

3. Some of these Infinite rep gurus would not debate or even say anything to you just because you have less than a 1000 rep, or less than 1,000 posts. So, in their infinite wisdom "they know" you have no idea what you are talking about.

I have been deployed to a vacation location where I get more free time, and have been posting a lot more. Hope you guys won't ignore us "trolls/noobs" LOL

Only thing I find that has changed is the quality of people on here, you got people admitting they haven't seen someone fight but turn around and say they don't see why they are so good. I just try to overlook alot of the posts until i see someone I know, otherwise, most of the posts are a waste of time where they state the obvious or they show a lack of having a well thought out opinion.

There definitely are people with a lot of rep who ignore the new people, but we all don't do it. I didn't do that pre-mod, and I don't do it now.

Keep posting quality posts, and don't worry about those who ignore you. There are almost 20,000 registered members on the forum. Plenty of people to talk to other than the few people with their noses in the air. Enjoy the forum, participate, and silence the haters.



P.S. The rep system isn't even a year old yet. You've been a member since Aug 2006. You were here for 8-9 months before the rep system was created.

I've gotten to where I look more at how long someone has been here than posts and rep. Alot of the new people reposts the same things or just don't make well thought out posts. That's the only real downfall to having so many people on here now. It's hard to have a decent debate sometimes because of it. I still ain't leaving though...

I like to idea someone made a while ago about having a forum for older members, kinda like new jack for the newbs but for veteran members.

One problem that I see here is the terms "nut hugger" and "fighter bashing". If someone is a fan of a certain fighter or MMA organization they're often classified as a "nut hugger" by the trolls (and yes...there ARE trolls here who are considered "senior members"). On the other hand, it's almost impossible to debate the sport of MMA or talk about certain "key" fighters without being accused of "fighter bashing". The site is down right boring without debate, especially during a slow new cycle as it relates to MMA. The term "fighter bashing" needs to be redefined.

I think that the job of a mod is to moderate discussion, regardless of how they feel about the subject or the debate. I've seen mods allow flaming simply because they may disagree with the opinion of the person who is being flamed.

That all being said, this place is awesome. It's evolving and that's fine...even good. And anyone who leaves a "good bye note" or something like that is simply crying for attention and will all come back. The mods can tell you....how many people who left these "good bye notes" log back in for weeks after that to read peoples responses. Legend will come back.

I don't like how the site owners don't give a crap about this site, when I first joined Boone actually posted here more then the majority of the members, now he is no where to be found. The mods and admins do a great job I must say and without them this site would be nothing. Clint and Bullock used to be the only ones who would even control the forum (boone and Cruz would drop in about once a month)

I don't think you can win members like Legend and Dagreat1 back, this site has grown and some members are not going to like it. I prefer the smaller atmosphere that we had a year ago
